It all started with a sketchbook.

Before the exhibitions, installations, and finished artworks, there were markers, notebooks, and ideas scattered across the floor.

🌿 Slide 2 β€” The artist behind the work.
πŸ“– Slide 3 β€” A peek inside the sketchbook.
🎨 Slide 4 β€” A sketch brought to life.
⚑ Slide 5 β€” Another original sketch.
πŸ–ΌοΈ Slide 6 β€” The finished artwork.
✍🏾 Slide 7 β€” Yet another concept from the archives.
✨ Slide 8 β€” The final transformation.

Many of my mask-inspired works begin as simple drawings in a sketchbook. Over time, those sketches evolve through color, texture, found objects, and mixed media into pieces that explore identity, imagination, and Afrofuturist storytelling.

As artists, we’re often quick to share the finished work. Today, I wanted to share the beginning.

Which slide is your favoriteβ€”the sketch or the final artwork?

James Brown is my spirit animal! It’s something about his raw energy that fires up my creative juices.

I’ve revisited an old Afrofuturism mask series β€œThe Rebirth” started in 2017. Initially there were 3 masks, 2026 I looked over my sketches. I was inspired by its grittiness to run this series back up! 3 more asks otw!

POV: you stopped buying mass-produced decor and started collecting original art instead ✨

Slide 1 β€” The vision.
How this piece lives inside a bold, feminine, fashion-forward space.

Slide 2 β€” The sketch.
Every piece starts as a raw idea before it becomes a statement.

Slide 3 β€” The process.
Hand-drawn. Hand-painted. Built layer by layer.

Slide 4 β€” The details.
Adding texture, embellishments, and personality to make the work feel alive.

Slide 5 β€” The close-up.
Because collectors know the magic is always in the details.

This original mixed-media artwork is available.
20x24 inches β€’ One-of-one original β€’ $300
