Welp, I didn’t get Teacher of the Year—but man, I won with all the incredible people in my life. 💛 My family, friends, students, and colleagues have cheered me on every step of the way, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

A very special thank you to Alex McLeod, who returned to her alma mater just to speak on my behalf. She put an accumulation of 25 years of grit, love, and dedication into the most beautiful speech. To hear Alex’s kind words, it made my heart explode and I was so proud to have taught such an amazing human. Gosh I love all the relationships this career has given me and I’m just so thankful for every single one.

My sweet friend and coworker, Megan Kendall, has been courageously battling breast cancer for the past two years. After rounds of chemo and multiple reconstructive surgeries, her latest scans showed that the cancer has returned in several places—including a concerning spot in her left lung.

Megan is now turning to holistic treatments to help her body heal and fight naturally. These treatments are not covered by insurance, but they are vital to her journey—and they come at a heavy financial cost.

A few weeks ago, I had the honor of capturing family photos for Megan. I want to share just a glimpse of this beautiful family who longs for nothing more than to have their wife, mother, and friend healthy and thriving again. 💕

Trying to be ok with it but my Colby 🐻 is graduating this year. Camden is a junior following right behind. I’m blessed to see them walking in the halls, visiting my classroom, and getting smiles from their friends throughout the day.

After 24 years of teaching art, I finally wrote and sent in an article & lesson for School Arts. It was accepted and published for publication (digital now, print in April). I’m excited to have my students artwork showcased and share a photography lesson I love teaching.
