Hey everyone!

Trying out a new idea this year. I’ve composed some piano accompaniment tracks for the trombone and euphonium GMEA Allstate etudes. My thought is that this could help with general ensemble playing in full band as a result, by helping students work on keeping a consistent tempo, listening for their own intonation with the track, and thinking more about musical direction with the underlying harmonic motion of the music.

Let’s be honest, practicing with a metronome and a tuner isn’t the most fun, not for adult professionals and certainly not for young musicians (don’t get me wrong, it’s still necessary). So why not practice with something that could still develop those skills without the boring metronome endlessly going during a practice session?

Excited for the premier of my newest composition with the later this month! I’ll be conducting “Soundtrax II” - a sequel to my 2018 composition Soundtrax. This new version includes the organ and a marching snare drum! I can’t wait to perform with AFB and have my music played by a live ensemble again! So honored to be on the program with so many greats from present and past, like John Williams, Gustav Holst, and . I would love to see everyone there who can make it!!

Band directors and other teachers - I put together a playlist of some reference recordings of the GMEA etudes! I only have the lyrical euphonium and trombone etudes uploaded now, but the technical etudes will come out a little bit later.

I’m also working on a special practice tool project with the etudes that will be coming out shortly, so keep a look out for that in the coming weeks.
