EcoDistricts is thrilled to be joined by Kofi Boone, Professor of Landscape Architecture at North Carolina State University, for our next EcoDistricts Webinar on September 14. Kofi is a powerful voice in the design industry, focusing much of his work and scholarship on the intersection of ecological design and racial justice. His work is helping to reimagine resilience and landscape design through the lens of equity and the Black Lives Matter movement. Kofi brought down the house with his pointed and poignant closing keynote at the 2019 EcoDistricts 2019 Summit in Pittsburgh. We wanted to have him back again to share his work and wisdom during a critical time in our country’s history.

From the ongoing COVID pandemic to the rebellions that have gripped communities around the world in the aftermath of the recent police murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Jacob Blake, there is a growing push to address systemic inequities in our environments. What might this mean for landscape architecture and the emerging resiliency movement? Kofi will frame the topic of resilience as a means to acknowledge the need for nurturing human resilience through ecological design.
