Some weeks at work are weirder than others…
Working through a short Arban triple tonguing exercise today—one of those fundamentals that quietly separates control from chaos 😂
At the seminar, we’ll take material like this and push it further: clarity at tempo, consistency across registers, and how articulation actually supports your musical intent instead of getting in the way. Reinforcing that technique is always in service of the phrase is so important!
If your triple tonguing feels reliable only in the practice room, this is exactly the kind of work we’ll dig into.
Just a couple spots left!
Just recorded a quick thought outside David Geffen Hall about the seminar. This is exactly the kind of work I wish I had more access to earlier on—clear, practical, and rooted in what actually works on stage.
If that kind of deep dive interests you, we’d love to have you with us.

I had a great time speaking with Mike Davis — a thoughtful conversation that covered a lot of ground and left me genuinely energized. Grateful for the opportunity and for the depth he brings to these discussions.

I found some old videos that I haven’t seen in a while! Bordogni number 23 from February 2012. It was a long time ago, but I still liked practicing Bourdois‘s back then as much as I do now. I’ll post the whole video on my YouTube channel. I’ll post a few more from that session over the next few days!
I was trying to record a little Berg for one of my students. It’s a hard enough excerpt without having my judgy dog adding some commentary. Zelda isn’t a fan!
