My daughter's were outside and found this. They thought it was a rock, until they picked it up.

Always lurking, never have posted before. I've had 6 major hip surgeries in the span of 12 years in my 20s and 30s. It started out with hip dysplasia that my parents never had corrected as a kid. My right was 17 degrees worse than my left so I only had the right side done. The first major one was a PAO (periacetabular osteotomy) where they broke my pelvis in 6 places and screwed it back together with two 10 inch bolts. I then proceeded to fall down the stairs and break my pelvis in half. I then had surgery to remove the old hardware then another surgery to put the new hardware in, a 14 inch metal plate and 8 screws. In addition to those horrifying recoveries I also had several labral tear repairs, muscle lengthening and a bone graft from my iliac crest. Out of those 12 years I spent 7 of them wheelchair bound. I still require the use of a walker due long distances and on bad pain days I'm back in the wheelchair. I went on permanent disability in 2021.

I also had a C4-C6 ACDF (anterior cervical discectomy and fusion) in August 2025. That was also incredibly painful to recover from! I still have terrible neck pain but that's better than the foot drop and incontinence I had before that emergency surgery. My spinal cord was being compressed and I had shooting pain and numbness down both arms. As soon as I woke up from surgery my symptoms in my arms, bladder, and foot were all improving. I'm incredibly grateful to my surgeon,Dr Spisak, for saving my quality of life.

I have never seen these spikes on the body of a car (by all four wheel wells). Are they to warn the driver they are too close to something or scratch a car getting too close? Or maybe just some Goth embellishment 🤷‍♀️

Burned scissors, a serrated knife, a flashlight with a laser pointer taped to it, a lighter, and a torch all tied together

Found in the woods 250ft upslope from a two lane highway dirt pull-out. There are no trails nearby we just happened to stumble upon it while scouting out a potential field site for a project. It appears to be scissors, a flashlight strapped to a laser pointer, a butane torch(?), a lighter, and a serrated knife all strung together and well marked with red reflective tape. We plan to report it to the authorities because it's kind of disturbing, as if someone tried to sterilize these instruments with fire from the lighter or torch before dumping everything where they thought they wouldn't be found, or they have it stashed there for later use. Any ideas on how this couldn't be nefarious?

Is this normal? I have 1.2hrs on my machine, ffs.

Seen this and thought of a Dr. Suess film and had to snap a photo and wondering why.
