Nearly 1,300 employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are being forced out under the Trump administration’s move to get rid of all probationary employees. The agency’s leadership was notified of the decision Friday morning. Employees received their termination notices via emails, form letters and video calls.

Crash Victim: This is 28-year-old Samuel Lilley, a graduate of Georgia Southern University from Savannah. His father identified him as one of the pilots on the American Airlines plane who died in the crash Wednesday night. “I was so proud when Sam became a pilot,” his father Timothy Lilley said. “Now it hurts so bad I can’t even cry myself to sleep. I know I’ll see him again but my heart is breaking.”
