Continuing my series on the Art of Puzzle Design, I’m presenting a spectrum of ways to use puzzles in math education, ranging from a supplementary role to a central role. The key insight is that playing mathematical puzzles in math class is analogous to reading fiction in English class — it can play a central role that complements the more fragmented grammar-focused way of learning language or math.
