🌼 Buttercup gave us quite a scare today.

At just 7 months old, she suddenly started panting, running a fever, and acting so much like she was in labor that we rushed her to the vet.

Thankfully, the incredible team at Hospital was able to squeeze her in for emergency surgery just two hours before closing on a Saturday!!!!
We are so grateful ❤️

The diagnosis? Pseudopregnancy (false pregnancy).

The cause? Unspayed female cat's body can sometimes go through the hormonal changes of pregnancy even when she isn't pregnant. This can happen after breeding without becoming pregnant, but some cats can also ovulate spontaneously and develop a false pregnancy without ever being around a male cat.

As progesterone and prolactin levels change, a cat's body may begin preparing for kittens that don't exist. She may develop enlarged mammary glands, produce milk, gain weight, nest, or even show signs that closely resemble labor. In Buttercup's case, it also led to mastitis and a fever that required urgent veterinary care. Buttercup has also been a surrogate mom for orphaned kittens, and while she saved their lives by adopting them, nursing may have further added to the confusion her body was experiencing.

The good news? Buttercup was spayed today and is already feeling much better. 🥰

Her story is an important reminder that **spaying is about much more than preventing unwanted litters.** It protects cats from painful and potentially serious reproductive conditions, including false pregnancies, mastitis, pyometra, and mammary disease. Even very young cats can be affected.

Buttercup is so grateful for the team Bridge Park Animal Hospital for taking such wonderful care of her 💙
She is feeling so much better already and on the way to full recovery!

And once she's fully recovered, this baby angel will be looking for her forever home. Trust us, you'll want to keep an eye out for her. 🌼🐱✨

Happy Mother’s Day to every mama, including the ones raising their babies in garages, backyards, alleyways, and under porches, doing everything they can to keep them safe. 🌸

Right now, kitten season is exploding and we are receiving constant pleas to help moms with newborn babies. These families are some of the most vulnerable animals on the streets, and without rescue, many kittens will not survive.

Fostering saves lives. We provide supplies, medical care, guidance, and support, you provide a safe temporary home. Apply to foster and help us save the next mama and her babies. ❤️

Hi friends! We are asking for your support to help one of our foster dogs, Lola, get a surgery she desperately needs.

Lola was dumped at a rural county animal shelter on her second birthday by the only family she’s ever known who had her since she was a puppy. Lola has allergies, which led to ear infections that were never treated. After years of these constant infections it was discovered that her ear canals suffered too much damage and they need surgical intervention. County shelters aren’t equipped for these types of situations, so to save Lola’s life, we brought her into our foster program.

Lola’s ear canals are completely blocked, so she needs a total ear canal ablation (TECA) surgery on both ears. It’s a serious and expensive procedure that costs $8,000. Lola has seen multiple vets and specialists that all agree this is the only way to help her and ensure she is no longer living in constant pain and isn’t at risk of a potentially lethal infection in the future.

Despite her condition, Lola has made huge progress and is an amazing and happy pup! She is in the best foster home that spoils her rotten. She’s adjusted to her new life so well and has a routine.

When her foster parents get up in the morning, she promptly goes back to bed for her morning nap. She has breakfast with her foster dad while he works. Her foster Grandma has health conditions of her own, and Lola spends the day cuddling with her to give her comfort. When her foster parents finish work, she takes them on fast-paced walks through the park, and she shows them the places that smell the best. At the end of the day, she makes sure that they get to bed by 9 o’clock sharp so that they can get good sleep and be rested the next day. She’s such a good girl!

Lola likes to travel to the North Georgia mountains, and she keeps the squirrels away as she patrols the yard. She even lets her foster mommy dress her up in lacey pink harnesses… and only destroys them sometimes!

She has learned to “sit”, “lie down” and “shake”… but she usually just does all three at once to make sure that she gets it right. (She’s trying to learn “stay”, but that one is really hard!) She loves to greet people by showing them how high she can jump into the air to give them surprise face kisses.

Lola is such a bundle of love and happiness that she even wags her tail in her sleep!

She’s alive and has a foster family that loves her… but she’s not out of the woods yet. The last step to ensure Lola lives a healthy, happy, and pain free life is the TECA surgery.

Every dollar counts, and we promise to keep you updated on Lola’s recovery journey. Thank you for considering helping Lola and we’re grateful for your support!

We’ve been a little quiet… but behind the scenes it’s been full-on kitten season chaos!

And now, finally, we present: The Cocktail Litter
(shaken, stirred, and absolutely ready for their forever homes)

These babies were hand-raised from the very beginning, some since their eyes were still closed, which means they are incredibly social, affectionate, and convinced every human they meet is already their best friend.

Each one comes with their own personality, from fearless explorers to professional snugglers, but all of them are guaranteed to add a little extra “spirit” to your life.
They’ve done the hard part, now they just need their people :)

She was born into uncertainty… survived fire, loss, and a world that was never gentle to her.
And yet…look at her now. ✨

Specs may be partially deaf blind, but she navigates her world with incredible courage, trust, and grace. She is affectionate, confident once she has mapped her surroundings, and has so much love to give!

Specs deserves the home that was always meant for her, a forever home where she will finally be safe, cherished, and loved.

This winter, we distributed 27 shelters for our community cats.

Here are some of the furbabies already staying warm. 🧡

It may look like a simple straw-filled bin —
but to them, it’s protection from wind, rain, and freezing nights.

Want to build one too?
❄️ Watch our video tutorial to see exactly how 😺

Small action.
Life-saving difference.

More rescue updates coming soon. 🐾

This $25 Shelter can save a cats life ❄️ 😺

We’ve been a little quiet lately — it’s because we’ve been in full rescue mode.
Medical emergencies. TNR. Foster kittens.
And building 27 winter shelters for our community cats.

Today, we’re sharing how you can build one too. 🐾❄️

🏠 What you need:
• Plastic storage bin (~27 gallons)
• Straw (not hay — straw repels moisture)
• Foam board insulation + reflective insulation for extra heat retention
• Box cutter + hair dryer (to safely cut the entrance)
• 6-inch plastic flower pot (optional entrance awning)
• Gorilla tape, marker, zip ties
• Drill (to create small drainage holes at the bottom)
• A sprinkle of catnip for an extra kick 🌿

Watch the video to see exactly how we assemble them step by step.

It may look simple, but to a cat facing freezing temperatures, this can mean survival.

Huge thank you to our own Rosalie Hathcock for sponsoring this project and making warmth possible for so many. 🧡

And of course, Mercedes supervised the entire operation. By “supervised,” we mean she tested every single box personally and sat directly in the middle of our materials. Exceptional management skills.

More rescue updates coming soon. 🐾❄️

In a forgotten corner of our city, people with almost nothing still made sure the cats were fed before themselves. But then, tragically, suddenly, unexpectedly, last weekend the place they all called home burned literally to the ground in the flash of an eye.

We have now rescued 11 cats from the wreckage since that day. Among them: Specs - a gentle deaf blind cat who had spent her life tucked away in the rafters to try and stay safe. A terrified mama and her six still nursing kittens. Two displaced dogs. And precious souls we’ll never forget.

Specs survived because people who had almost nothing still fought to save her life from the fire. Now we have to fight for them. But we cant do this alone, we need your help!

💛 How you can help
• Fostering — our most urgent need. We cover all the costs, you provide the temporary space and love until they can get adopted. If you can only foster for one week, that is also tremendously helpful!

• Donate — we cannot do this without your support. Every cent donated will help us cover their medical expenses and get them ready to find loving homes.

• Share their story — help us reach more hands and hearts!

And to everyone who already donated: THANK YOU! Your compassion is the reason those precious souls will get a second chance!

✨Rescue Story: The Kitten Behind the Wall✨

Last night, we heard desperate cries coming from outside — a tiny kitten was screaming her lungs out. After searching, we discovered she was trapped behind the drywall inside an old church building. There was no way to reach her from the outside, and since it was 2 a.m., we had to wait until morning to act.

In the morning, we reached out to the realtors listing the property: "if you DO NOT want to buy the church, I don't care about the cat"

We didn't give up, instead we recruited our amazing community of compassionate people, and started texts, phone calls and everything humanely possible! After several hours and a lot of moving parts we were given permission to enter the building and open a small section of the wall. Huge thanks to the Oasis family life church team, Kayce, who got us permission to get in and open the wall hours and Daryl, who came in on his day off to unlock the church for us.

After some careful teamwork (and a bit of crawling through drywall!), we managed to reach the kitten. She was shaking and terrified, but she’s finally safe. 💕

She’s still in shock, but resting now — warm, fed, and loved.

To everyone who commented, called, offered advice, and helped spread the word: thank you from the bottom of my heart. We faced some obstacles today, but the kindness of strangers far outweighed it.

Together, we saved a life. 🐾💗

PS: She is a girl, what should we name her?

✨ Happy National Black Cat Day! ✨

Did you know black cats are good luck in many cultures?
💫 In Japan, they bring prosperity.
💞 In Scotland, they’re a symbol of love and welcome.
🌙 And in ancient Egypt, they were literally worshipped!

Sadly, here in the U.S., black cats are still the most overlooked, even when they’re this adorable.

Meet our Cosmic Litter: Cosmo, Ziggy Stardust, Lumiel, Moonbeam, and Solstice — five tiny celestial kittens who lost their mama far too soon but found love, warmth, and endless snuggles in their foster home.

They’re confident, sweet, playful, affectionate, and absolutely glowing with personality. They know no strangers, love other cats, kids, and even dogs! Yet while their non-black siblings were adopted right away, these little 2 month old stars are still waiting for their forever homes. 💔

Let’s make National Black Cat Day shine for them.
🖤 Adopt love. Adopt magic. Adopt a black cat.

✨ Apply to adopt the Cosmic Litter today — before these galaxies of purrs find new orbits. ✨
