Since our campaign started, we've shipped over 50 pounds of treats to our wonderful donors. Thank you SO MUCH!!!

With your donations, we've been able to get Kobie's passport processed, and are in the planning phases of Kobie's first international educational excursion in the fall or winter.

Please consider supporting our worldschooling effort. We realized early in Kobie's educational journey that a traditional school doesn't serve his learning style. I strongly believe that the only way to maximize his learning experience, and the the only way for him to truly LOVE learning is to immerse him in learning experiences that he understands - real-life, hands-on experiences.

So, here we are. I'm already seeing that it's one of the best decisions we've ever made for him. He asks to learn. He has input in the subjects we focus on for the day. He retains information 100 times better, because it's information that he cares about.

And, yes, it's a lot more work. But, what's the alternative? Fortunately, moving him from a traditional school setting gives us access to SO many learning opportunities - museums, clinics, camps, and travel, of course, at any time! So, his learning experiences are limitless, with exception to funding, which is why we're asking for your help.

Kobie and I thank you, again, for your support!!!

Click here to support Kobie Sees The World Bake Sale organized by Stacey Whitney This is Kobie. Kobie wants to see the world. He's made this very clear, since he was 3. He's now 7. We've tried many educational styles, and many schools, and have learned through all of this that project-based, experiential learning works best for him. We also understand that an early love for...

Update from our community garden - focus on the word "COMMUNITY":

Emmy Mathis, Christopher Hollis, and numerous other neighbors have done an outstanding job keeping our community garden growing, learning to grow organically (pesticide-free) in the middle of the city, solely for the purposes of beautifying our neighborhood, educating neighbors on the ease of growing their own food and giving food to those in need. They've volunteered to keep our garden project going through the winter, and have yielded beautiful results!!! Thank you for everything you're doing to keep the Adair Park Community Garden alive and well!

If anyone would like to donate mulch, compost, organic pest control, etc. please let us know, or please make a tax-deductible donation on our Go Fund Me page: www.gofundme.com/soh-inc

Thank you for your support!!!

Today, on , I ask that you make a donation to SOH, Inc.

In acknowledgment of our strong community support, and collaboration from many sources; in consideration of the commitment I made to my community and to my Creator to give back; and in appreciation of the participants who have stayed the course, giving up isn't an option.

We've provided ServSafe training to 15 people this year. Our partner, Atlanta Restaurant Group is helping in this effort. We still need to train ten more before culinarians before the end of the year, which requires resources.

We're halfway through a ten-month gardening education program in partnership with HABESHA, Inc. the education continues, but requires resources.

We're modifying our culinary training component to be we -based, so that it's universally accessible. Developing that, and accessing space to provide it takes resources.

If 100 of our friends donating $10 or more will help tremendously in keeping our programs going into the new year. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today!

Thank you for your support!

Though I'm not in Georgia, our programs are alive and well!!! Thank you to Cashawn from HABESHA, Irwin Street Market, our Adair Park neighbors and all of our family and friends for your continued support. More BIG things for the holidays to come in the upcoming weeks.

Be blessed!

10/07/2015

Hey, friends! I blew through this week, and purchased some supplies for the garden at Pearce and Metro. Christopher Hollis has been working on maintaining it, and harvesting seeds, as has Adam Ray Peterson. To them, I owe a debt of gratitude.

Sheshe Todd, Emmy Mathis, and Kysha Doss Hehn will be working on pulling tomato plants and planting greens this week. We still need to install the little free library. Supplies for all of these things are on my porch, including concrete mix and a base for the library post.

I've given specifics to Christopher and Kysha about planting, and am open to any other ideas. If ANYONE is willing to help with a low-maintenance fall garden, or continued supply donations (not cash) please let them know. We can figure out the spring over the next few months.

Thank you SO MUCH!!!

Our field trip to H&F Bread Co. today!

08/17/2015

Doggone it!!! I forgot to take pictures today of our ServSafe exam session. Congratulations to our participants who stuck it out, studied, and completed this grueling two-hour, 90 question exam! Now, to the fun stuff!

Next week, we're taking a tour of H&F to see what REAL baking is about. The week after that, we'll be in the kitchen!!!

In our gardening program, we're growing seedlings, for which we created pots from old AJC papers at HABESHA. Now, we're watching them grow, and will report back next week with their progress!

Thank you again to everyone who has contributed to our programs, including Food Oasis, family and friends. We COULD NOT have made it to this point without you!
