Boss Locks
We are redefining professionalism, elevating Black voices, and proving that natural hair and professionalism do coexist.
Join us on our journey to speak to Black leaders and CEOs to learn about their experiences Working While Black. “This all started right after college when I was nervous about being rejected in job interviews because of my locs. I knew I would thrive in any role I got but wasn't sure how to get past the job interview without cutting my locs"

If you were a teacher, how would you grade America’s progress toward making MLK Jr’s dream a reality?
“It’s a crime in a rich nation for people to receive starvation wages.” -Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The 1963 March on Washington was an opportunity to hold the US Government accountable for guaranteeing complete equality for Black Americans... two of the demands, were never implemented and we can see the economic impact today.
No. 7: “A massive federal program to train and place all unemployed workers – Negro and white – on meaningful and dignified jobs at decent wages.”
No. 8: “A national minimum wage that will give all Americans a decent standard of living. (Government surveys show that anything less than $2.00 an hour fails to do this.)”
the average movie ticket cost have risen 985.82% from 85 cents to $9
A carton of eggs has risen 354.54% from .55 to 2.50
And gas has risen 900% from .32 to 3.20
A loaf of bread cost 22 cents . . . a gallon of gas, 30 cents.
Think about this, the current national minimum wage has only gone up 262.5% from the $2 minimum Dr. King demanded to 7.25
The cost of living has increased at a higher rate than our wages have making the pursuit of the American dream, just a dream for many.
So I ask... If you were a teacher, how would you grade America’s progress toward making Jr’s dream a reality?

Black people are not a monolith. If you need any evidence of that just look at podcasting.
It’s a billion dollar industry with genres ranging from True Crime to Kids & Family and we exist in every single one of them.
While reviewing hundreds of podcast submissions is a challenge, I enjoyed hearing all the different shows outside of my typical go to genres.
As I continue to grow in this industry finding opportunities to help Black creatives will always be top of mind and it’s really great to have a resource like The helping shows get discovered.
The future is bright!

Do you feel safe at work?
It’s easy to only think of safety as physical violence, but danger can come in many forms. In the workplace, safety is often based on psychological factors like being your authentic self without fear of negative consequences.
I see a lot of conversations about the importance of but what many companies fail to do is create an environment where you are truly safe.
But what do you do if you feel like you don’t belong?
I’m sitting down with (pronouns: he/them/miller) CEO and Alignment Consultant of The Miller Consulting Group (The MCG), founder and creative director of the lifestyle brand, The Dandy Studio, and the creator and co-host of the internationally celebrated
You won’t want to miss this conversation as we explore how they are committed to building bridges of belonging, to ensure there is space for everyone to thrive.

You don’t have to quit your job to pursue your dreams. Yes, not having a job gives you all of the time in the world to follow your dreams. But 90% of the time, it’s not the job that’s holding you back (I made up that stat but the message is still true).
Building a brand doesn’t require you to be a full-time creator or entrepreneur but it does take clarity, discipline, and an unshakable desire to pursue your vision.
Join us to learn how both Steve Worthy and I have built a strong brand while working a full-time job and get tips that you can apply towards developing your brand today.
In our next live show, Steve and I will talk about our experience building a brand while working full time and we’ll get to hear about what it took to become a full-time content creator.
My grandma once told me that when you have something to give, give it. So I figured that instead of just talking about how to build a brand, I want to actually help someone build it.
So during our next Livestream, Steve Worthy & I are going to select ONE person from the audience to come join us on stage (Link in bio to get notifications 🔔)
Steve & I talk about brand development all of the time, so we figured why not make this conversation public and invite others to join us.

Black authors are not getting the same level of respect as other authors get.
Walter Dean Meyers was the first author who was able to create a story that I felt connected to. Before I got burnt out from reading in high school, I would spend hours reading fantasy novels. I’d get lost reading A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter, even S.E. Hinton’s books but after reading Monster by Walter Dean Meyers, I realized that I needed more Black authors on my bookshelf.
The challenge I found, was that I didn’t know how to find Black authors. But it’s not because they don’t exist, it is because there are not as many growth opportunities available for Black literary creatives. At least there wasn’t at that time.
Join me as I speak to Tamika Newhouse the founder of AAMBC INC non profit organization founded with desire to provide a platform for the unknown African American creative in the television, film, and publishing industry.

What does representation mean to you? For me, representation isn’t just a nice thing to have, it communicates the level of respect and understanding you have for a community.
But it's not just that, seeing is a big factor in believing, and when you only see people from BIPOC communities associated with negativity, the viewers will begin to make those same associations.
Join me as I speak to Joy Donnell the Co-Founder of the Center for Intersectional Media + Entertainment (CIME) and about how they are advancing intersectional representation in media &

🛑 Your Mental Health Is Not Embarrasing 🛑
There’s still a strong stigma around mental health challenges 🧠
Often times, when we refer to this stigma the conversation is about how other people perceive those challenges, but it’s also a reflection on how you perceive your own well-being too.
