This Thursday!

Are you interested in knowing more about stormwater flooding in Decatur? Join Eric Byrne, civil engineer at the City of Decatur, as he hosts an interactive workshop about what you can do to address stormwater runoff on your property. This presentation will include information about the city's current infrastructure as well as a case study on how homeowners can manage stormwater on their property.

The program is at Legacy Park in Hawkins Hall 500 S Columbia Dr Decatur on Thursday June 18th from 6 to 7:30pm. The presentation will start at 6:30pm. Light bites will be provided, so bring a neighbor or friend to learn more about this issue! We’ll also give a packet of seeds to the first 10 people to show up which you can use at our next workshop!

This is the first of four sessions in the “Know Your Flow” workshop series hosted by the city of Decatur’s Environmental Sustainability Board and the Climate Resilience Task Force focused on what homeowners can do to address stormwater issues on their property and to learn more about the City’s own stormwater infrastructure improvements. Join us to learn more about their quarterly hands-on workshops and speaker series!

If you’d like to get involved with the Decatur Climate Resilience Plan Task Force, email them at [email protected]. They host bi-monthly Task Force meetings and have subcommittees focused on flooding and extreme heat and they'd love for you to join or reach out to learn about their initiatives in the city.

Next up in our rundown of Wylde Center's weekly summer camps is the sixth week of camp, Botanical and Culinary Arts!

Aimed at kids 9-12 years old, this hands-on camp connects campers to the natural world by blending botanical art with practical culinary skills.

Campers draw inspiration from the garden as they create botanical artwork using sketching, watercolor, pressed flowers, and mixed media.

In the kitchen, the campers will learn essential culinary techniques through a selection of recipes that explores culinary traditions from around the world.

Activities are thoughtfully scaled for both tweens and teens, leaving participants with original artwork, new recipes, and a deeper appreciation for nature and food.

Sign up for this camp, or for any of our other weekly sessions here > https://www.wyldecenter.org/camps/

And remember, our sponsor, Go Play Shoes is offering 15% off any pair of kids shoes when you bring in your 2026 Wylde Center Summer Camp receipt!
