Co-dominant stems with included bark are one of the most common structural defects in Atlanta's mature urban trees, and most homeowners walk past them every day without knowing what they're looking at.
That V-shaped fork where two equally-sized trunks meet? An arborist checks whether the union has a sound wood-to-wood bond, or whether bark has been pushed inward, creating a seam that can fail under wind load or summer foliage weight.

Safety in tree work isn't just a policy on paper. At Boutte Tree, it's built into the culture through hands-on field training, industry credential requirements, and active participation in organizations that set professional standards for the trade.
Tierson Boutte personally leads field safety training for the Boutte Tree crew. That means safety procedures aren't handed down through a handbook, they're demonstrated and practiced in the field by someone who has been doing this work for over two decades and holds an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist credential alongside a civil engineering degree. The Georgia Arborist Association and the Crane Safety Institute are both active parts of the professional network Boutte Tree participates in, because staying current on industry safety standards isn't optional when you're operating cranes and climbing trees in dense Atlanta neighborhoods.
Boutte Tree also has a TCIA Certified Tree care Safety Professional on staff, a credential specific to managing safety programs in professional tree care operations. This is the kind of infrastructure that distinguishes a company serious about the work from one that treats safety as a checkbox.
When you hire a tree service, you're not just hiring someone to cut. You're trusting them with equipment that operates at heights, near structures, and above the people and property you care about. What does the safety record and training background of your tree service look like?

Stump removal is one of the most commonly skipped steps after a tree comes down, and in Metro Atlanta's warm, humid climate it's one of the most consequential ones to overlook.
Decaying stumps attract termites, carpenter ants, and wood-boring beetles. These insects don't stay confined to the stump: they move into nearby wood structures, fences, and in some cases the framing of adjacent homes. Atlanta's mild winters mean pest populations don't get naturally reduced the way they do in colder climates, making stump management more important here than in many other regions.
Fungal root rot is the other concern. If the removed tree carried any fungal disease, the root system connected to the stump can continue spreading infection to healthy trees growing nearby, especially during Atlanta's warm and wet summer months.
Boutte Tree provides stump grinding as part of a complete removal or as a standalone service for stumps left from previous work. Our certified arborists can also assess whether a stump presents a meaningful risk to adjacent trees before recommending a course of action.
Service area includes Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Norcross, Brookhaven, Embry Hills, and greater Metro Atlanta.

Today is Arborist Appreciation Day, and we think that's worth pausing on. The professionals in this trade work in all weather, at height, with heavy equipment, and they do it because they genuinely care about trees, properties, and the communities they serve.
Every healthy tree in your neighborhood has a story, and more often than not, a trained arborist is part of it.
Arborists do far more than remove trees. They assess structural risk, diagnose disease before it spreads, plan pruning schedules that protect long-term health, and make judgment calls that keep people and property safe. The work requires years of training, an understanding of biology, and the kind of physical skill that most people don't see until something goes wrong.
If a trained arborist has helped you protect a tree you love or safely remove one that was a hazard, today's a good day to say thank you.

Pruning is not a single service. Structural pruning and aesthetic pruning accomplish different things, and a tree that receives only one over its lifetime can develop significant problems that aren't visible until they become costly.
Structural pruning focuses on the tree's long-term architecture: removing co-dominant stems with included bark, establishing appropriate growth patterns while a tree is young and correctable, and managing limb weight distribution to reduce future hazard risk. Aesthetic pruning addresses appearance, clearance, and the visual relationship between the tree and its surroundings. Both types have legitimate purposes, but the wrong approach, repeated over multiple years, creates weaknesses that are difficult and sometimes impossible to undo.
A certified arborist evaluates a tree for both structural and aesthetic needs and can explain which type of work is warranted, in what combination, and what the risks are of deferring either. Boutte Tree's team of ISA Certified Arborists serves residential, commercial, and institutional clients throughout metro Atlanta.

When you hire a certified arborist in Atlanta, you're getting more than a crew with equipment. You're getting someone trained to diagnose tree health, evaluate structural risk, and recommend treatment based on what your trees actually need, not just what's easiest or most profitable to remove.
Boutte Tree has multiple ISA Certified Arborists on staff, including an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, the highest credential in professional arboriculture. Our arborists serve residential and commercial properties across metro Atlanta, including Sandy Springs, Roswell, Brookhaven, Norcross, and Embry Hills.
Whether you need a full tree health assessment, a consultation on a specific tree you're concerned about, or guidance on plant health care for your property, our team can help. Commercial and institutional tree work requires a different level of capacity than residential service. Right-of-way maintenance, utility corridor clearing, airport operations, ESA-designated areas, and multi-property contracts demand documented safety programs, certified crews, and the organizational infrastructure to execute consistently at scale.
Boutte Tree has built its commercial practice to meet these demands. We serve property managers, HOAs, government agencies, and institutional clients across metro Atlanta who need a partner that understands what large-scale tree work actually involves: precise clearance specifications, coordination with utility contacts and regulatory bodies, consistent crew performance across complex job sites, and clear communication from scoping through completion.
If you manage property or infrastructure in the Atlanta metro and need a commercial tree care partner, contact Boutte Tree to discuss your project.

Complex tree removals near structures, in constrained urban lots, or involving heavy equipment around utilities require more than experience with trees. They require disciplined pre-job planning and technical problem-solving that draws on principles most arborists haven't been trained in.
Tierson Boutte holds ISA Board Certified Master Arborist credentials and a civil engineering degree from Georgia Tech. That combination directly informs how Boutte Tree approaches high-consequence jobs: load analysis, equipment positioning relative to underground infrastructure, rigging sequencing to protect nearby structures, and systematic review of what can go wrong before any work begins.
This is part of why Boutte Tree is trusted by commercial property managers, institutions, HOAs, and residential clients throughout metro Atlanta for work that other companies decline or mishandle. The planning phase is where complex removals succeed or fail, and it receives as much attention as the work itself.
For complex removals or situations where the stakes are high, contact Boutte Tree to discuss your project with our team.

Many trees in metro Atlanta are growing in root zones compromised by clay soil, surface compaction, and a history of construction. The effects often appear gradually: thinning canopy, slowed growth, increased pest susceptibility, and a general decline that can be mistaken for normal aging.
Deep root fertilization is a core service in Boutte Tree's Plant Health Care program. Using pressurized injection, our arborists deliver nutrients, oxygen, and beneficial compounds directly into the root zone, past compacted surface soil, and into the area where feeder roots can actually absorb them. The injection process also helps fracture compacted soil and improve water infiltration around the treatment points.
Results are visible over a sustained program: improved canopy density, stronger seasonal growth, and better overall resilience to Atlanta's summer heat and seasonal stress. Our team evaluates each tree and site individually before recommending treatment.
If your trees have been showing signs of decline, reach out to Boutte Tree to schedule a PHC consultation with our ISA-certified arborists serving metro Atlanta.
