And lastly for this week, - “Keep Going” from the ‘Intensives’ EP is out now! This is for sure my favorite of the songs we did last year - suffice to say, its the most aggressively progged out of the tunes so far.
I found these guys through , didn’t expect so much rad prog rock from Birmingham, AL but I’m here for it! I’ve been super impressed with their writing abilities too, I mostly just sat back and tried to make it sound good.
The guys had a section marked for screaming but didn’t have anybody lined up for it, so I volunteered and it ended up making the cut. I haven’t contributed vocals on anything in a couple years and it was fun to see if I could still pull it off, thanks to the boys for letting me throw down!
For the tone heads, we tried a few options and ended up with ‘s Peavey JSX on rhythms - real sleeper of an amp. Alex also handled all the rhythm tracking and most of the leads.
This was also one of the first mixes I did with my 4K bus comp; it’s a sweet piece and I’ve been enjoying dipping my toe back into mixing with hardware.
Check it out!

Next up on the new releases, dropped a song we did last year featuring called ‘4 Dimensional Regret’. Drums were recorded at my place, .james813 and the band handled the rest of the production (even reamps) and then I went to mix town on it.
I really dig how and Cheney’s layers play off each other towards the end - the guys did a great job leaving enough space instrumentally to mix the vocals a bit more like radio rock 🤘
Snare was my Copper 5x14” and toms were my Yamahas - such a killer combo, ’s tribal tom bits came out pretty thunderous on this one!

New single is out today! A couple shots from drum recording at
was engineering the guitar and bass back at home base while and I pounded through the drum recording in the day and vocals with in the evening.
We did it in record time and I think the result sounds fantastic, we pulled some great raw tones along the way!
I’m extremely jazzed to to share this live clip of that I mixed/mastered - be sure to check out the full thing on the channel! More songs to follow…
“Sleepless Deathbed”
