Sizemore Group
Cultural Spaces. Beautiful Places. The firm broke ground in the 70s as an early proponent of energy efficiency through daylighting.
Sizemore Group was founded as a firm dedicated to sustainable architecture that serves the public good and inspires, as well as motivates. As a firm specializing in civic, religious, and education architecture, planning, and interior design, Sizemore Group understands the importance of strong connections—both in our work and within our offices. Our Asheville, NC location plays a vital role in our operations, where connectivity remains a top priority—especially in our leadership. During a recent visit, Bill de St. Aubin enjoyed Asheville’s beautiful scenery, drew inspiration from the Basilica of Saint Lawrence, Deacon and Martyr, and met with our President, Joel Helms, and Director of Operations, Kathryn Scott, for a productive and forward-focused discussion.
This visit further strengthens our mission of Designing for People First.

Charrettes are more than just meetings—they’re moments where collaboration, creativity, and clarity converge. By bringing clients, stakeholders, designers, and community voices into the same room (or table), charrettes create space for shared understanding early in the design process.
At Sizemore Group, we view charrettes as an essential tool for shaping thoughtful, responsive design. They help align goals, surface challenges before they become obstacles, and spark ideas that may not emerge in a traditional linear workflow.
Perhaps most importantly, charrettes foster buy-in. When people are actively involved in shaping a vision, they become invested in its success. In a profession where design decisions have lasting impacts on communities, charrettes remind us that the strongest outcomes are rarely created in isolation—they’re built together.

Today we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
His vision of justice, equality, and service continues to guide meaningful change in our communities. At Sizemore Group, we believe the built environment plays a role in bringing people together and creating spaces rooted in dignity, access, and opportunity for all.
We reflect, we listen, and we recommit to building a more just future—together.
