Happy World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛

When we first learned that there was a 97.3% chance our sweet Saqqara would have Down Syndrome, the news was given in the most cold, uncomfortable way. Zero compassion. And from someone not qualified to disclose the information.

We quickly changed OB offices. Because the nerve! From that point, while we had the information, we were in MUCH more compassionate hands. Thank God for

We monitored her growth and development each week. Every appointment with Maternal Fetal Health, we learned she was growing well and there were no issues with her heart or digestive system. She was fine. We still had a 3% chance she would be “normal”.

When she was born, her own blood test confirmed her diagnosis; Trisomy 21.

Honestly, we both cried.

We mourned the life we thought she was supposed to have. We grieved the child we thought we were supposed to grow together with.

What will people say? Will they be cruel to her? Will they judge? Will she have a “normal” life?

Truth is, Saqqara Laree Walker is absolutely perfect. She isn’t a normal 7 and a half month old baby girl. She’s EXTRAORDINARY! She and God had a conversation and she chose us.

We are equipped. We are perfect for her. I hate we cried about her diagnosis, but it’s perfectly normal, we learned. We have been learning more and more about Down Syndrome and continuing to learn so we can be her biggest advocates. We are grateful for the love and support Lil’ Boop receives daily! She is SO loved. She is a light. She gets smiles from everyone she encounters. She brings joy to every room and space!

We celebrate individuals with Down Syndrome. We wear mismatched socks to celebrate differences and raise awareness for the Down syndrome community! Why socks? Because chromosomes look like little socks - and people with Down syndrome have an extra copy of the 21st chromosome (3/21)!

Talk about hella vulnerable! Wanna know what we’re up to? Here ya go! is hosting a contest and I entered. Why? Well, why not? I believe in myself and what we are doing as a family. And why not shoot for the opportunity to position yourself to win?

Sure, we’ve won some, and we’ve lost some. Shoot, we’ve lost a lot, AND we’re gonna keep getting up and doing. But when you just can’t get the wheel to turn and keep turning. When you bet on yourself and things don’t work out in your favor one too many times, you take action in some courageous ways.

This is my courageous act.

Whatever happens, I took a bold step. And I’m gonna keep taking bold steps and betting on me!

Happy October. 8 weeks postpartum. I’m learning it really does look different for everyone. My new mom era is different from the next new mom.

I’m grateful for my journey and pray that other new moms (and OG moms) embrace their era. It’s beautiful and messy and tiring and abundant in all the ways.

I’m itching to get back into a work groove and re-establishing myself in the online space. At the same time, I’m LOVING being Saqqara’s mommy. is loving being Saqqara’s daddy.

I got really bad imposter syndrome and strayed away from what I love to do. Create. Write. Inform. Inspire. So we are trying it again.

Maybe this part of the journey needed her to be a part of it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Either way, I’m not afraid anymore.

Q4 is about to see a bit more of us. Hear a bit more from us. We hope you’ll join along and follow our little family.

One month with you and I don’t remember everything that existed before. 🥹

Saqqara Laree, having you enter our lives has been a pure joy. I’ve learned greater patience. Greater vulnerability. Greater surrender.

Ego? What ego? Ego is flushed down the drain.

I am a completely new human inside and out.

Mommy and Daddy are so grateful you chose us and that you and God shared a sense of humor to have you meet us 10 days earlier than the late scheduled c-section we penned on our calendar (not our preferred way of entry for you, but we’re safe and here and that’s all that matters!).

You like what you like, and you don’t what you don’t, 😂. You’re super observant, and hear like an owl. You’re already so strong. And you eat and nap with the BEST of ‘em! You love skin to skin with Mommy, Daddy’s voice, and the crook of his arm. You do not like being awakened from your sleep 😴 or poopy diapers.

You’ve been here before. You’re so wise.

You’re our masterpiece. We love you so much and we love it here even more. 💛
