As as teen, I had 2 felonies on my jacket. Facing 3-5 years in the California Youth Authorities before being sent to an adult prison. I still remember reading the paperwork! Short story shorter, given a 2nd chance I finally made a choice in life, because freedom or jail where my only options at the time. But I’ll never forget where I could have headed. So this song means a lot to me, it spoke to me, as a lot of Pac songs did. & the black rose represents what grew from the concrete, into the Black Man you see today.
