Scammers are targeting Veterans and Military Families right now, and it's important our community knows what to watch for.
The Better Business Bureau has issued a fraud alert about schemes designed to steal money and personal information from the military community through fake VA benefit notices, overpayment claims, phony military discounts, and more. The tactics vary, but the goal is always the same.
A few things worth knowing:
The VA will never ask for your login credentials or demand upfront payment to protect your benefits. Don't wire money or use apps like Zelle or Cash App to anyone you don't know. And if an offer sounds too good to be true, it is.
If you or someone you love gets a suspicious call, text, or email claiming to be from the VA, hang up and reach out directly at VA.gov or 1-800-827-1000.
Our Veterans gave everything. Helping protect you and your family is the least we can do.

Memorial Day does not affect everyone the same way. For some, it is a celebration of the freedom to gather with friends and family, to laugh together over a cookout, and enjoy the blessings of freedom. For others, it is a day of quiet reflection.
What unites us is the understanding that today belongs to the fallen. Not as symbols or statistics, but as Americans. Fathers and daughters. Friends and neighbors. Heroes whose names still catch in our throats, whose laughter still echoes in our memories, and whose chairs remain empty at the table.
Today, we will laugh at their jokes, tell the stories of their lives, and remember the moments that made them who they were. Though they fell in service to our nation, they continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
To those who carry the weight of Memorial Day every single day: you are not alone. We cannot take away your pain, but we can stand beside you, carry their memories with you, and honor the sacrifices they made.
If this weekend feels overwhelming, please reach out to the Veterans Crisis Line. Their story matters, and so does yours.

For many women Veterans, the transition from military service into entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, it is about building something meaningful, sustainable and aligned with purpose. Yet access to funding, visibility and the right network can often be the biggest barriers to growth.
The Women Veterans Giving Small Business Award was created to help close that gap.
This award is designed specifically for women Veteran founders, supporting both nonprofit and for-profit ventures at any stage, from early ideas to established businesses ready to scale. Since its inception, Women Veterans Giving has awarded over $35,000 to women Veterans who are leading with innovation, resilience and impact.
Beyond funding, this award provides something equally valuable: recognition and community. Finalists are not only acknowledged for their work, they are connected to a broader network of Veteran entrepreneurs, business leaders and supporters who understand the unique journey of women who have served.
