A big CONGRATULATIONS to David Argo for becoming an ISA Certified Arborist! The ISA Certified Arborist Program is accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board and includes an in-depth exam to demonstrate training and knowledge in all aspects of arboriculture – tree biology, identification and selection, soil management, installation and establishment, pruning, diagnosis and treatment, trees and construction, tree risk, safe work practices, and urban forestry.

The Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Annual Convention begins later this week in Savannah, Georgia. This year’s theme is Imagine the Possible.

We’d like to introduce you to Ainsley Fischman, our new marketing coordinator in Atlanta! Ainsley is from Canton, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and a minor in International Affairs. Before joining TSW, Ainsley interned for an insurance and benefits company, learning the ropes of RFPs and social media management. We are excited to have Ainsley join our team!

Some fun facts about Ainsley:
- She named her dog Maverick after Tom Cruise in Top Gun.
- She loves to cook but rarely measures out the ingredients.
- Her goal is to visit every country in the Caribbean by the time she is 30!

Last Friday, TSW hosted our annual picnic at McClatchey Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The afternoon included a lot of lounging under the trees, catching up with co-workers and their significant others and children, a catered lunch, yard games, and an intense water gun battle. Bring on summer!

Last week, TSW’s Planning Studio challenged the Architecture Studio to a friendly pickleball competition at the Atlanta Pickleball Center. Both studios demonstrated their skills and excellent form – look at those backhand shots! The Architecture Studio even showed up with custom t-shirts – very intimidating!

Next up, the Planning Studio will be challenging the Landscape Architecture Studio.

Tomorrow, TSW’s Samantha Castro is presenting the Lexington Urban Growth Plan at the second session of this year’s Grow Smart Academy hosted by Fayette Alliance, a smart growth advocacy group. Session Two will educate attendees on infill and redevelopment, the preliminary plans for the proposed expansion areas (the Urban Growth Plan), and the 2045 Comprehensive Plan.

We’d like to introduce you to the newest member of our Planning Studio, Christopher Myers! Christopher joins TSW as an Associate and is working with our Lexington, Kentucky, office, while also supporting projects across the Southeast. He is originally from Charleston, South Carolina, and attended Ball State University, receiving an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning & Development and a Master of Science in Historic Preservation. Christopher’s previous work experience included administering zoning ordinances and historic preservation design guidelines and helping create a hands-on training program to support new skilled tradespeople (ask him about the Covington Academy of Heritage Trades!), along with analyzing and writing development regulations for clients across the U.S.

Some interesting facts about Christopher:
- In his free time, he’s either at the park with his family, getting into trouble fixing things around their late 1800’s house, or deeply engrossed in a video game.
- He is a classically trained pianist.
- He was once in an improv group.

Last Friday, the Halidom Eatery opened in the IST Management Services’ headquarters along Moreland Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia, with a grand celebration. The food hall includes 11 stalls with a variety of restaurants, including Indian, Mexican, sushi and ramen, pizza, waffles, and more.

TSW provided architectural services for the 50,000+ square foot IST building, which opened in 2022. TSW was not responsible for the food hall design, but we’re excited that the Halidom Eatery is now open, bringing activity to the street level, and look forward to checking it out.
