When we take the stage Wednesday, it will have been many years since I’ve showcased a full set of Gas Hound tunes with a line up dedicated to presenting the essence of what these songs have always meant to be.

We are embodying moments - moments of breath and exhale, explosion and cohesion. We play witness to the rising and falling of the melodic tide as it continually shifts like rays of sunlight through a stained glass window. Our whole being engages in the act of play. This is no easy task, and it takes dedicated skilled musicians to open a portal where others around them can experience the transmission of the energy pouring inward and outward in all directions, all at once. It’s volcanic and pure. Violently peaceful. Beautifully ugly. Disgustingly tasty. A sutured paradoxical paradise coming apart at the seams. All surf and sea foam green. 🏄🌊🐚

I invite you to pay respect as I am now to the incredible humans I enlisted and who have openly supported me throughout the cultivation of this ever evolving amalgamation of the Hound - Benjamin White (Glimmers) master of tins and skins who will be stirring the batwing juices of the great black caldron, Adam McIntyre (The Pinx) wielding a transmutable form of the lady of the lake with 6 strands of hair, and Nick Whitson (THE Phantom of Phantom Electric) on the spectral periscope of low resonant frequency, ever watching the horizon for signs of solar implosion. 🏺🧿🔥

Many moon phases ago this song was gifted to me in a dream of rebellious youth. For years I tried wrangling it in, played it on stages for nearly two decades and recorded it multiple times.

This evolution was partially recorded for The Buzzards of Fuzz full length LP “Spockera” (Space Rock Opera for those not in the know) which later became known as a self titled record whittled down from 15 to 9 songs. It’s bones - the drums, vocals and guitar - were tracked live at my Uncle Pickle’s house in Dahlonega, Ga on our family land. It came at a difficult transition where upon we had just lost my Aunt and we had to move on from the property. I do believe her soul is deeply intertwined in this and all the recordings we captured in that space. This one was recorded on the 3rd floor of the vacant master bath & bed we turned into our cosmic space ship of a studio.

Years went by and this was still collecting digital dust on Kris Sampson’s hard drive. Then finally we made moves to reinvigorate the original intent of our sonic discovery. Nick Whitson (Phantom Electric) added bass and backing vocals. Cullen Curtis (Black Cat Rising) laid down some wicked slide guitar that knocked us out of our seat. And Kris put the final shine on the sheen of this mean muggin’ machine!

The song begs a question Can You Pretend… to keep believing all the lies you placate yourself with?!

It’s an arrow of truth in a dirty, disgusting, vile twisted slaughterhouse of fear, obligation, guilt and gas lighting abuse raining down from all strata of waking life. It’s this arrow that must pierce the heart of transcendence with compassion and great kindness, graceful surrender and a never ending sense of gratitude for all of you who constantly support my global initiatives to bring everyone a moment of peace and tranquility amidst the storm. ⛈️ 🏹
