A few things I’ve learned in almost a decade of being in a romantic relationship with this man (pictured us 2025 vs 2016):

1. When a man wants you, you’ll know. His intentions will be crystal clear, and honestly, he might be more ready than you are. You won’t have to play detective, and you definitely don’t need a specific set of “skills” (like cooking) to make him want to commit. Babe, if it’s meant to be, he’ll hire a cook if that’s not your thing.

2. Love isn’t always fireworks. Passion comes in waves, but real love? It’s quiet and constant. It’s that deep, settled knowing that you’re in this together, no matter what.

3. You and your partner are probably wired differently. Different love languages, attachment styles, and childhood baggage—it’s a lot. Show grace, but never settle for less love than you deserve.

4. My girlfriends know almost everything about my marriage. I’m not into the whole “don’t air your dirty laundry” thing. If you can’t talk to your friends about struggles in your relationship, something’s off. Either they’re not the friends you thought they were, or you’re holding onto some unnecessary shame. Speak up, get support, and get some fresh perspectives.

5. Kids can shake up your marriage. Yep, I said it. You’ll find a new rhythm eventually, but sometimes letting go of what used to be and accepting the new normal? That’s tough.

6. Pick the person who will hold your hand when life hits hard. Not just the one who looks good naked or has a nice bank account (though, from personal experience, the right one can check all those boxes too 😉). You need someone who’ll be there through the hard stuff.

What did I miss? Drop your thoughts in the comments. ❤️

Everyday I work to earn the privilege of being your mother. One day, when I’m no longer around, I hope the mere fact that you are my daughters fills you with pride, and I want you to know that I slayed demons, walked through the wilderness, and wrestled with God almighty to be the best mother I could be for you. Y’all are the loves of my life. Thank you for choosing me. ❤️

Why did I run a marathon? Because I can. Because I could, and so many can’t — because they’re fighting cancer, recovering from it, or they’ve been taken by it. I ran it for me, for every part of me that needed healing. And I ran it for you — for those still battling and for those no longer here. F**k cancer.

I didn’t know Black women couldn’t have happy marriages, healthy children, money, degrees, joy, leisure time and/or hobbies but here we all are, being unrelatable af and I love it here 🥂
