The Earth Tomorrow Summer Institute is one major component of the National Wildlife Federation’s year-round Earth Tomorrow program. The Summer Institute engages rising 10th to 12th-grade students, selected through a competitive application process, in a week-long intensive residential experience of hands-on leadership development activities and fieldwork.

Past summer institutes have included a college & green career fair, leadership development, river cleanups, civic engagement, kayaking, and more!

Earth Tomorrow Houston invites rising 10th to 12th-grade students to apply for their week-long immersive residential experience. Participants spend the week on a college campus with field trips to surrounding areas, including a one-night campout.

Peer mentors are environmentally-focused college students who serve as role models and staff support for the Earth Tomorrow Atlanta Summer Institute, a week-long residential experience for high schoolers.

Earth Tomorrow Atlanta had a great time at the booth at the RayDay sustainability fair in Serenbe, Georgia. 🐓🌈🎠

There were over 60 eco-booths, lots of delicious free food, a petting zoo, rides, and more!

Earth Tomorrow Houston Fall Leadership Campout 2024🌊

Building on their work from the Earth Tomorrow Houston Summer Institute, participants attended the fall leadership campout to workshop environmental justice plans in preparation for this year’s upcoming grant cycle to support their campuses and community.

Students, staff, and peer mentors were treated to cooler weather (for Texas) as they worked on their outdoor, camping, and leadership skills. While they worked hard on their environmental justice plans for their community and kept the campsite spotless, they also had lots of time for fun!📝

Students let out their inner child, building sandcastles, competing in beach volleyball, and exploring the wildlife along the Gulf Coast shoreline. A night hike along the moonlit shoreline provided a reflective experience for adventurous participants. Sunday morning kayaking provided a different perspective of the landscape and wildlife among the coastal grasses of the bay waters. 🛶

Students will return to their campuses with the camaraderie of Greater Houston eco advocates, plans to expand on their environmental justice grant proposals on their campuses, and a sense of peace that only time in nature can bring.

Our Houston Peer Mentors spent two days learning about each other and the Earth Tomorrow Summer Institute ahead of this week’s program. We are excited to include amongst our young professionals 4 alumni who participated in NWF education programming. They’re all ready to bring their lived experience and education to helping participants understand environmental justice.

We invite rising 10th-grade to 12th-grade students to apply for our week-long intensive residential experience!

Participants spend the week on a college campus with field trips to surrounding areas and a campout. Past summer institutes have included leadership development, outdoor activities, a college and career fair, speakers, and environmental education. 🛶 🏕️

Every student accepted to the summer institute will be provided a full $1,800 scholarship to attend the event at NO COST.
