This week Lockheed Martin celebrated an incredible milestone: 75 years in Marietta.

For generations, Lockheed Martin has helped shape Cobb County as a global hub for aerospace, advanced manufacturing and innovation. From producing the iconic C-130J Super Hercules to advancing next-generation aerospace technologies, the Marietta facility has built more than aircraft—it has built careers, strengthened our economy and inspired future innovators.

That legacy continues with the announcement of 1,200 new jobs at the Marietta campus, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to our community and Georgia’s world-class talent.

SelectCobb proudly celebrated the grand opening of Ascension FBO Network's new passenger terminal at Cobb County International Airport - McCollum Field!

This brand-new 6,000-square-foot facility represents a ~$6 million investment in Cobb County's aviation infrastructure, featuring modern passenger lounges, crew amenities, and first-class hospitality spaces for corporate, business, and recreational aviation.

The new terminal supports a team of approximately 22 aviation professionals, with room to grow as activity at RYY continues to climb.

What a year for Cobb County Government! In yesterday's State of the County address, Cobb Commission Chairwoman Lisa Cupid
highlighted the incredible economic momentum our community continues to build.

Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta remain powerhouse economic engines — welcoming more than 250,000 visitors during last year's MLB All-Star Game, generating $2.5 billion in economic impact, and delivering a $40 million net positive tax impact for Cobb County.

And the wins didn't stop there. In 2025, Cobb County attracted and retained more than 2,000 new jobs and attracted millions in new capital investment — proof that Cobb is one of the most dynamic places to do business in Georgia.

Caldwell Insulation, a family-owned Cobb County business, just made it official: they're staying and growing right here where they started. Matt Caldwell recently relocated his four companies — Caldwell Insulation, Georgia Firestop, Inc., GFI Solutions, Inc., and Safety Pro Solutions, Inc. — to a new shared headquarters at 3102 Cobb Parkway NW in Acworth.

Together, those four companies represent more than 465 employees. And in the process of moving, they launched a fifth business — GFI Critical Systems, Inc. — proving that growth here is far from finished.

A major milestone for Cobb County! 🇺🇸
Yesterday, our partners at the Cobb Convention Center Atlanta celebrated the "Topping Out" of their $190 million expansion and renovation project — placing the final steel beam, adorned with an American flag and a tree (a Scandinavian tradition dating back over a thousand years!), atop the new structure.

Members of the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority, staff, and the Holder Construction team signed the beam before it was raised into place — signaling that the framework of this transformative project is nearing completion.

When complete in spring 2027, the expanded facility will offer:
- A new two-story grand entryway
- A 7,200 sq ft junior ballroom
- 11 new meeting rooms and an executive boardroom (24,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art meeting space)
- An 11,000 sq ft outdoor event courtyard and a separate garden, bringing natural light into interior conference spaces
- New connected parking with covered, all-weather access
- 13,000 additional sq ft of indoor event space

For Cobb County, this expansion represents more than square footage — it strengthens our position as a premier destination for conventions, corporate events, and economic activity across the Southeast.

The convention center remains open throughout 2026.
