And so we’ve sung the dragon back to sleep for another year…
(With apologies to Clyde Gilbert for completely stealing this line, but it’s so perfect that I will keep repeating the theft every year)

My 8th turn as Director of the Filk Music Track, and over the last week, I’ve had a few conversations with folks that reminded me of how far we’ve taken what’s been built and changed and grown this track to what everyone got to experience in 2025. It’s amazing, and it’s in no small part all about the time all of y’all (Performers, Volunteers, and Fans) have given to our little music track.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart - our performers killed it this year, and I really can't help but gush about them. The Blibbering Humdingers, Brobdingnagian Bards, Clearly Guilty, Chuck Parker, Corwyn The Bardbarian, The Faithful Sidekicks, The Gekkos, and Tom Smith were always willing to go that extra mile, along with rolling with anything that the Con or life threw our way with grace and excitement! And a special thank you to Comedy Rock Geek Mikey Mason for popping into some of our traditions and letting me steal him away occasionally from the Dragon Con Concourse Stage.

Our volunteers shone so brightly this year, and I don't want to miss an opportunity to crow about our team! Kat, Rowan, Shemar, Dima, Jordan, Felix, Theresa, and Liz made sure that the fans and the performers had a great time (along with making sure that I sat down and ate/drank/slept occasionally) - from the bottom of my heart, I truly could not survive con without all of your blood, sweat, and tears. And our Eternal Helpers, Chip and Sharron, for always being there to help out, whatever and whenever needed!

I wanted to give a special shout of thanks again to Pat for taking the time in her (Still) official track retirement to get the Songbook this year out the door - you always do such a spectacular job, and I'm so thankful for you! You could have stepped back and let me flounder at the 11th hour, but you are always there to give your time and energy to our little songbook with a smile, even if you don't need to anymore :)

Without all y'all who are reading this, we could put on the best show in the world, but it wouldn't be worth it without you, the fans. Y'all raise us up and make this all worthwhile every year. Everyone was so gracious and lovely, I just don’t have the words, outside of the most effusive thank yous that I have in my heart and in my posts. Y’all also came out for the charity this year, helping us collect over $2500 this year with our charity bucket!

We’ll start planning really soon for the 2026 show, but may be a little scarce in posting for a bit while we all recover. I plan to have some more of our pre-con shenanigans starting after the new year, and I'll be attending a few conventions over the next few months. Make sure to stop me and say Hi if you see us around!
