A year ago this week… still doesn’t seem real at times. 💗

As I turned off the lights for the very last time tonight I was overcome with emotion. First was sadness, which was quickly replaced by an all encompassing feeling of love. Love for every musician that has graced this stage. Love for the countless friendships I have been blessed enough to make here. Grateful to have had this job for 22 years, met and married my husband here. Had my wedding reception here. My mind filled with nothing but amazing memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I have learned so many lessons here, good and bad and I can lock these doors and walk walk away excited for the future and blessed beyond words to have been a part of it. Thank you to John Scatena for giving me a second home all these years, for trusting and believing in me and for always letting me have my way 😄. I won’t say goodbye.... the music will continue. I’m just happy to have been a part of the magic. Thank you all and I love you. Amanda 💕💕

The outpouring of love we have received since we broke the horrible news that we were closing has been amazing. We are actively looking to reopen at another location, so we have started up our GoFundMe page again. Tonight we celebrated nearly 40 years of business. Friends and family came out to support us and the club and we are beyond thankful for all the love. Even though it’s the end for us at this location, our plan is to move on to bigger and better things. As John Scatena always says “ when the music starts, that’s when the magic happens”. Help us keep the magic going at our soon to be announced new location by supporting us and all of Atlanta’s local live music by donating here. With faith, hard work and a little help from our friends we can make this happen soon!

Rumors seem to spread like wild fire. Unfortunately the rumors you are hearing are true. After a long fight trying to stay open and provide amazing live music, supporting only local musicians and bands, complying with all the regulations and mandates placed on us due to Covid 19, trying to keep a full staff, after 35 years Cafe 290 is closing its doors. This weekend will be our last weekend in Sandy Springs on good old Hilderbrand Drive. It has been our absolute pleasure and an honor to serve the city of Atlanta all these years and If I could personally thank each and every one of you musicians and customers I would love to do so. You have allowed us, as a family to grow to strive and to bring HANDS DOWN some of the most fantastic live shows this city has ever seen. There are things in the works to hopefully move to a néw location and keep this magic going, and I promise from the bottom of my heart to keep you all posted on any updates. Thank you for 35 years Atlanta. And on a personal note, I have met my husband at this job. Employees and customers both have become second family to me and I thank you for years of memories and stories. Cafe 290 is a part of me and I know it’s been a part of some of you as well. Sunday when we close those red doors for the last time, know we are grateful for your business, your support and your friendship. We love you all.
