I’ll sit there and lose myself just noodling away, and every guitar i have ha

It's taken me a few days to try and get my s**t together to write this, as you know, I'm not on here often, but I felt that paying tribute to this absolutely amazing human was necessary.
The time that they announced CJ's death was ironically 20 years to the day from when I met him in Madrid, Spain. There are a handful of my friends that were there that night, I won't bore you with the story, but I can tell you this, the trajectory of my life changed significantly with that meeting. I wouldn't have been in a bunch of the bands I've played in without him, I wouldn't have met my wife, without her I wouldn't be a father. That kind of puts things into perspective for me.
From that 1st meeting we fast became very close friends, to me he was my best mate. We wrote music together, we were best men at each other's weddings, he was Godfather to my son Sullivan, we played on stage in front of tens of thousands of people together. But most of all, and most importantly, he was an extremely humble, empathetic, calm, wise, fun, and loving friend. He talked me off the cliff edge more times than I can possibly remember.
I've spent the last few days in tears trying to make sense of this whole thing. Going round in circles wondering why a person that made such a positive impact on so many people was taken from us way too soon.
I've gone through every single emotion from sadness, to gratitude, to anger and back again, ultimately, my friend Tony Marshall talked me down from a very dark place the other day and reminded me that if he were here right now, he'd tell me to "let go of the negativity and remember all the good times". And then I started remembering memory after memory, ridiculously amazing times, stories that made me realize how lucky I was to know him.
It's really easy to feel cheated and angry when someone this close to you passes suddenly. All the unanswered questions, why didn't I call him more? Why didn't I message him more? Why didn't we write more music together while we had the chance? The list goes on and I've been asking myself hundreds of questions for days now.
Ultimately, nothing can be changed at this point, all I can do is honor him and the memories I have of him, and the amazing times we spent together.
I'll tell you all this, I know that to many of you he was a rockstar, the frontman of Firehouse, a multi platinum selling band, you may have met him a few times and mentioned he was a 'nice guy', a 'lovely geezer'. That's just a fraction of what an amazingly beautiful soul he was.
So to his partner Katherine, the band, and his family whom I love so much. My sincere condolences, I hope you find the strength to navigate this sudden loss. You're all in my thoughts daily. Heather, I know you’ll keep his voice alive through your own astonishing vocal cords
Rest in peace bother, your songs will no doubt continue to be an inspiration to a multitude of people across the globe.
I'll try to live by your wise words from one of the 1st tunes we ever wrote together. "This is your life, live it like there's now tomorrow, let your star Shine"
Love you mate xx

Ok this is what it's all about. Myself and Doug donated this guitar to the Nicholas & Friends Foundation to be auctioned off at last Saturday's McDonough Rock Fest.
All the bands who played that day signed the guitar and we expected 'maybe' to get a few hundred bucks for it.
By the end of the night the closing bid was nearly $1400. We were absolutely flabbergasted, and this money will now go to helping special needs children in classrooms.
Here's a picture of me and John Drummond (one of the festival organizers) grinning from ear to ear because of the generosity show by all who bid on this Jackson guitar.
Thought I'd bring some positivity to your day :) xx
