Emmitt Smith's genealogy from "Who Do You Think You Are?" is a great example of the common path many Black Americans have to take when researching family history.

In early July, I visited the Shirley Plantation in Charles City, VA.
Established in 1614, it is the oldest family owned business in North America and is still active.
After visiting the grounds, I found the visit to be more emotionally difficult than anticipated.
