THIS WEEK: National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) was started by HazingPrevention.Org (HPO), an organization aimed at bringing awareness to hazing within high schools and colleges as well as empowering students and professionals to actively work to prevent hazing. National Hazing Prevention Week occurs annually during the last week of September. This week provides schools and universities with the opportunity to host programs, workshops, and forums, to help bring awareness to hazing.
The week is designed to equip everyone with the tools needed to recognize hazing, have conversations around hazing, and alternative methods for bonding. Many believe hazing only occurs within certain areas, but hazing occurs in many facets of the student experience.
Here at Georgia Tech, several offices come together annually to participate in National Hazing Prevention Week with a weeklong of intentional programming and events. This year, National Hazing Prevention Week will be help September 20-24, 2021.
