The symptoms of undiagnosed and untreated Type 1 diabetes and a life-threatening complication called diabetic ketoacidosis are often confused with influenza, strep, viral infections, and other common illnesses in children and adults, leaving a trail of tragedy and devastation. Sadly, today people are still dying from lack of insulin.
Swift and proper diagnosis is necessary to stop deadly DKA, which occurs in untreated Type 1 diabetes.
In Dr. Banting’s honor, please share this poster to educate others about symptoms and life-threatening dangers of delayed diagnosis.

Today, Kycie Jai Terry would have been 16 years old. However, she left this earth in July 2015, after 162 days of courageously battling to overcome a traumatic brain injury caused by undiagnosed and untreated Type 1 diabetes. Over the last ten years, her parents have generously shared their own personal tragedy, saving countless lives as others have recognized T1D and received life-saving treatment before it was too late.
Thank you, Josh and Jamie. We hope to honor your beautiful little girl and the legacy you've created with Kisses for Kycie by continuing to spread awareness of the signs and symptoms of undiagnosed and untreated Type 1 diabetes.
