Simplicity Psychotherapy LLC
We use therapy to help those who look fine on the outside but feel heavy on the inside. We assist Black women in being their best selves on their own terms.
We specialize in assisting you with self-esteem and viewing yourself more positively. My favorite words in practice are perspective and perception. How we look at ourselves and how we view the world dictates everything we do. I also help overwhelmed couples find a healthy balance between caring for themselves and one another through improved insight and communication skills so they can live fulfil

From the outside…
everything looks fine.
But internally...something feels off.
Like you’re moving through your day without really being in it.
That disconnect doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
It usually means something hasn’t been acknowledged yet.
And the longer you push past it…
the harder it is to feel like yourself again.

A lot of people aren't angry.
They're hurt.
Anger just arrives first.
It's often the emotion we notice because it's louder, more familiar, and sometimes feels safer than admitting we've been disappointed, rejected, dismissed, or wounded.
So we say we're pi**ed off.
Meanwhile, underneath the anger may be hurt that hasn't been acknowledged.
The more accurately we can identify what we're feeling, the better we can understand what we need.
That's why emotional vocabulary matters.
Shades of Emotion was created to help you explore the emotions beneath the surface through reflection, creativity, and emotional awareness.
In honor of Juneteenth, enjoy 20% off the Shades of Emotion collection starting June 20.

Avoiding it doesn’t make you weak.
But when you notice it...you can start to shift.

When we don't have the language for our emotions, it's easy to lump them all into one category and keep moving.
But naming what you're actually feeling can change the way you understand yourself and respond to your needs.
That's one of the goals of Shades of Emotion:
helping you move beyond "I'm stressed" and build a richer emotional vocabulary
through creativity, reflection, and self-discovery.

Real question…
The way you’ve been moving lately...does it actually line up with the life you say you want?
Not just the big decisions.
The small ones too.
How you spend your time.
What you keep saying yes to.
What you avoid dealing with.
Because it’s easy to stay in patterns that feel familiar,
even when they’re not taking you where you’re trying to go.
Take a second, checkin with yourself.

Every thought isn’t a command.
Just because it pops up
doesn’t mean it’s true.
Doesn’t mean you have to act on it.
A lot of us were never taught that, so the overthinking gets loud and it starts to feel like facts.
Like you have to listen, react,
let it mess with your whole mood.
But you don’t.
You can notice a thought, let it sit there, and not do anything with it.
You don’t have to follow it down every spiral.
That’s a skill...and you can actually build it over time.

Just because you can carry it…
doesn’t mean it was yours to carry in the first place.
That habit of taking everything on
it was learned.
From being dependable.
From not having space to fall apart.
From doing what needed to be done, no matter how it felt.
But carrying everything isn’t the same as being okay.
You’re allowed to put some of it down.
You’re allowed to move differently now.
What happened wasn’t your fault
but healing is still yours.
