Comunidad Connect

This week, we’re welcoming a group of physical therapy students and professors from Georgia State University to Puerto Plata!

Throughout their time in the Dominican Republic, the group is working alongside our team through physical therapy home visits, educational sessions with local healthcare providers and caregivers, and time spent getting to know the communities we partner with.

We’re glad to have them here and look forward to sharing more from their week in the DR!

Join Comunidad Connect on November 21 for our 20th Anniversary Celebration at The Avon Theater in Avondale Estates, GA! We will gather for a VIP Social from 5:30-7:30 with reserved seating, entertainment, catering by Santo, and live auction. We will open the doors to the general public at 7:30 for a benefit show featuring two fantastic bands: Eddie Kesler and ¾ Time and Spaghetti Junction.

For two decades, Comunidad Connect has brought people and communities together across borders. Now, we’re bringing that same spirit to Atlanta and hope you will join us for an evening of live music, great company, and you may even win an incredible vacation package from Delta Vacations!

For years, Juana dreamed of having a home where she and her children could live in peace. Today, she has one.

Juana began working in the fields alongside her father as a teenager and has spent much of her life working to support her family. For years, she lived with her mother and other family members while hoping for a place of her own.

Juana was given a plot of land by her father, and through Homes for Good, that dream has become a reality.

Through her participation in previous housing projects, Juana has learned skills like mixing concrete, laying stone, and preparing land. She’s put those skills to work on her own home and will continue using them as she supports future projects in her community.

“I have worked hard all my life. I know that one day I will have my own home with my children.”

Now, she does.

A home of her own and a new chapter for Juana and her family.

Homes for Good has been moving forward in Nicaragua, and we have some updates to share!

Over the coming days, we’ll be highlighting ongoing work with partner families as we work together toward safer, more secure homes.

Travel always presents an opportunity to connect, share, and learn from one another.

During her visit to Nicaragua, artist and traveler Natalia París spent time with children from San Juan del Sur and Pochote who participate in our Inter Campus youth soccer project.

Together, they took part in an art activity focused on creativity, emotions, teamwork, and recognizing the unique skills and qualities each person brings.

It’s one of the things we value about Inter Campus: soccer creates a space where children can learn and grow both on and off the field, building teamwork, confidence, respect, and connections with others.

Thank you, Natalia, for sharing your time and creativity with the kids and for making this part of your visit to Nicaragua.

We’re grateful for experiences like these that bring people together in simple, meaningful ways.

Since 2024, 83 families in Nicaragua have a new bathroom through Comunidad Connect’s Baños For Good initiative.

That means safer, healthier, more dignified living conditions for 83 families, and more are on the way.

This work is possible because of the generous donors who believe that something as basic as a safe and sanitary bathroom can make a meaningful difference in a family’s life. We thank you!
