Happy Friday!!! I began this morning with a cup of tea with the herbs I harvested from the garden. The remainder of the herbs will be used to try a new shampoo bar recipe. I will be utilizing Comfrey Root which softens and conditions hair, Marshmallow Root which detangles, conditions, detangles and strengthens, and Nettle leaf which makes hair shinier. Just don’t forget to use gloves when harvesting your stinging nettle leaves as they definitely sting or burn. Blanching the leaves removes the stinging part and it can be used for all sorts of things including tea. **p **p

Happy Earth Day!! This years theme is Invest in our planet. What are you/will do to invest in our beautiful planet this year? Treat everyday like Earth Day. Today I’m starting my morning by going to the electronics recycling event at Lenox mall from 9 am to 2 pm today. You don’t even have to get out of your car. Good thing because I’m FINALLY taking this old 27” clunker tv that’s been a collector of dust in the corner for years because it’s too big for one person to pick up. Remember when you couldn’t pick up arc with one hand?? Check out your local cities to find out what events are taking place near you today. https://www.11alive.com/article/news/community/recycle-unwanted-electronics-with-georgia-natural-gas-friday/85-ff8405cf-21cd-4c40-8819-e573631693ec

Eggs eggs everywhere. It’s early spring and the chicken are busy providing up beautiful fresh (and free) eggs. With the price of everything going up, it’s nice to scratch one thing off the list.

What a wonderful surprise on international plant appreciation day. I got a visit from one of my favorite local agro business and research consultant s who brought me several aloe plants some of which will be processed used in a variety of skin and hair care products. **p

Happy international plant appreciation day!! Today I’m very grateful for all my seedlings that are growing up so nicely. It’s time to start preparing them to be transferred outside into their new hydroponic homes. I can’t remember if this is Year 4 or 5 of the garden but each year I learn more and am able to produce more and more food in very little space. It’s also really nice knowing where you food comes from and how it’s grown.

And just like that… it’s done. It feels great when you can turn a space completely back over to the client for them to enjoy clean and dust and contractor free. This kitchen will provide more workable space and storage than the original kitchen did. It will also hold up for real sale in a few years when the owner decides to sell.

I can see the finish line around the corner. The second countertop arrived cut correctly. The backsplash tile is in. Work has started on the dummy box matching the one covering the surprise pipe and the hood has been installed. Here comes the finishing touches including cabinet hardware, outlet covers, and crown molding.

Just when you think your rounding the corner at 3rd… The cabinets have been installed and the countertops have arrived. Installation started in the bathroom and then was halted in the kitchen. First countertop went in gray but the second was cut almost 1.5” short. I’m glad that wasn’t my mistake and therefore not coming out of my pocket but it’s forcing the project to not meet its deadline. Thank goodness for understanding clients. On a good note, that ugly pipe is now all covered up. Don’t worry that’s not the final look for the unexpected box.

Sometimes even when you have a plan, things change. This kitchen had 2 entrances. One was closed but the client felt it made the kitchen feel too closed in. So we left the bottom closed since we had cabinets being installed in the space and opened up the top. We’ll find another place to use the microwave cabinet. The steps weren’t a part of the original plan but seeing all the changes taking place my client decided for a staircase makeover. We removed the carpet, sanded the treads, added the landings and some paint.

Time for this bathroom to go!! This tiny little powder room is in need of a refresh. The first thing that has to go is that wallpaper. Then we need to do a little shopping to find a vanity, some flooring, lighting, a new mirror and fixtures. This room is so tiny you can go big and build or sleek and subtle. My client chose subtle.

Omg the first day of demo and already there’s a major problem. That strange little pantry was hiding a 4” drain pipe that stood almost 20” out from the wall… right in the space where the new stove is supposed to go. New plan needed ASAP because the cabinets have already been ordered and will be shipping soon.
