Thank you to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) for being one of our Annual Partners! ๐๐
As part of our Advocacy Committee, NRDC has been a strong voice in advocating for sustainable transportation as a climate solution, because transportation is one of the largest emissions sources in the U.S.
Their partnership has helped fuel our work including:
๐ฒ Expanding bike infrastructure and access
๐ Advocating for more reliable transit
โก Supporting clean transportation solutions like e-bikes
Weโre grateful to partner with NRDC in working towards our vision of an Atlanta where everyone can move sustainably throughout our city. ๐ช

Thank you to Councilmember Matt Westmoreland, one of our Annual Partners, for his continued support of safer, more accessible transportation options in Atlanta! ๐
Councilmember Westmoreland has championed Atlantaโs E-Bike Rebate Program, helping introduce legislation for the 2026 round of funding and pushing this initiative forward from the start.
The impact speaks for itself:
โก 11,000+ Atlantans applied for the first round
๐ฒ Riders are driving ~40% less
๐ธ 82% of rebates went to income-qualified residents
๐ $1.2M in sales for Atlanta bike shops
This program is about more than bikes. Itโs about expanding access, reducing costs, and giving Atlantans real transportation choices.
Weโre grateful to Councilmember Westmoreland for helping make it happen! ๐ช

Atlantaโs overall budget is increasing, yet transportation funding is proposed to decrease by $2.2M. At a time when residents are still calling for safer streets, these cuts raise serious questions about the Cityโs priorities. โ ๏ธ
Join us for a webinar today (12 PM or 6 PM) where weโll look at the status of current projects throughout the city. RSVP through the link in our story! ๐

Atlanta voted for safer streets. So where are they? ๐
In 2022, voters approved Moving Atlanta Forward, but so far, only 13% of safer streets and sidewalk projects have reached the streets. โ ๏ธ
Meanwhile, the City has fast-tracked $120 million in road resurfacing ahead of the World Cup, often without adding safety upgrades that protect people walking, rolling, or taking transit. ๐ฒ
What gets built reflects the Cityโs priorities. ๐ค
Join us on May 14 at 12 PM or 6 PM for a webinar breaking down the data, the budget, and the implications for Atlantaโs streets. RSVP through the link in our story! ๐

Safety improvements are well underway on 14th Street! See above for updates! ๐
A few things to note:
๐ง Thereโs a lot of construction happening across Atlanta right now, but bike lanes arenโt to blame for construction-related traffic.
๐ฃ๏ธ Four lane roads without center turn lanes are surprisingly inefficient because the two inner lanes both get blocked by turning vehicles. Adding a center turn lane means left-turning vehicles, but also delivery trucks and stranded vehicles can move into a center lane, which reduces crash risks.
๐ฒ Thanks for giving people more options for safe, active transportation!

Weโre back on Buford Highway! ๐ถ๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐ฃ๏ธ
On April 17, we hosted a Walk Audit of Buford Highway in partnership with DeKalb County District 2 Commissioner Michelle Long Spears. ๐ค
We assessed real conditions, connected them to crash data, and identified strategies to reduce crashes and support everyday trips for people who live along this corridor. ๐ฒ
Thank you to , , , , and for joining us and special shoutout to Byron Rushing, our volunteer technical lead! ๐
