Happy International Day of Sign Languages!

Today, we celebrate the power of accessible communication and the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

At CIDI, we support communication access through services including real-time captioning, CART, captioned media, and transcription. In 2025, our team provided real-time captioning for 3,788 college course sessions and served 44 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming Sarah Stricker to CIDI as our new ICT-UX Manager! 🎉

Sarah has been a subject matter expert in digital accessibility for more than a decade, including extensive hands-on experience in automated and manual accessibility testing and management. Her work has taken her from positions such as being an independent consultant for a wide range of customers, including a healthcare education company and an ecological non-profit, to working at the University of California, Berkley, as an Educational Technology Specialist. She obtained her B.S. in Psychology at the University of Georgia and her M.A. in Communication Studies at Colorado State University.

We’re so happy she found her way to CIDI, so please join us in welcoming her to the team!

We were honored to welcome members of Georgia’s U.S. Congressional delegation to CIDI!

During their visit, our team shared a glimpse into the work happening across our Braille and Assistive Technology programs and the impact of accessibility and innovation at Georgia Tech.

Our recent lunch and learn took a peek at how we might support stroke rehabilitation patients as they transition from hospital to home!

From this amazing crossover between the CIDI, Tools for Life, SimTigrate, Shepherd Center, and Georgia Tech’s Institute for Neuroscience, Neurotechnology, and Society (INNS), we were walked through preliminary results on how Integrated Smart Transitional Home Labs might support stroke rehabilitation patients transition home.
