First day. First patient. One unforgettable moment. 🏥💙
When the doors opened at Grady South Emergency Department, one of the first people we welcomed was Linda Barber, accompanied by her husband, William.
They live just around the corner. And even more special? They’re both Grady babies.
It’s a full-circle moment that speaks to something bigger: bringing trusted, advanced care closer to home. Grady South is here, and we're just getting started.
June 2 has always meant something to Atlanta.
On this day in 1892, Grady Hospital opened its doors and made a promise to care for this city. Today, we're opening the Grady South Emergency Department and making that same promise to South Fulton. Because when your child is sick, when every second matters, when your family needs help, care should be close to home.
This isn't just a new emergency department. It's the next chapter in Grady's story and a major investment in the future of South Fulton.
Atlanta has grown. South Fulton has grown. And Grady is growing with you.
Not sure where to start? That’s okay.
The hardest part is often taking the first step. Start by talking to a healthcare professional who can help guide you toward the care and support you need.
Help is here. And you don’t have to do this alone. 💚

We’re celebrating the heroes who show up first and never hesitate. 🚑
To our Grady EMS teams, thank you for your skill, compassion, and steady presence in life’s most critical moments. Our communities are stronger because of you. 💙
Hospital Week at Grady = good vibes, great people, and a whole lot of heart!
We celebrated the team that keeps it all moving. 🏥💙
Atlanta, this is what readiness looks like. 🚑💪
Grady’s Biosafety Transport Team was doing what they’ve trained for, safely transporting patients exposed to hantavirus with precision, calm, and care.
This is the same Grady team trusted during Ebola. The team that trains for moments most hospitals hope never happen. Because when something serious happens, Atlanta needs people ready on day one.
Proud of our EMS and biosafety crews who show up for this city in ways most people never see.

Ben Isabell’s journey brought him to Grady for both medical and psychiatric care. What followed was months of treatment, spanning holidays, milestones, and moments his family will never forget.
“From the front desk to the nurses to the doctors, everyone made us feel taken care of,” said Ben’s dad Carl Isbell.
From daily updates to meaningful moments of comfort, like time with his dog in the healing garden, their journey was filled with compassion every step of the way.
“If you need medical and psychiatric care, this is where you want to be,” said Carl.
Today, Ben is back to enjoying the things he loves, watching The Price Is Right, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and navigating a friendly household rivalry.
The Isbells' message to other families? “Stay involved. It makes all the difference.” 💙

We officially cut the ribbon on the new Grady South Emergency Department, the first step in a bigger vision to bring more care closer to home for South Fulton. ✂️🏥
Opening June 2, this new 24/7 emergency department means faster access to expert emergency care for families across South Fulton and beyond. But this is just the beginning. The emergency department is the first phase of a future medical center campus designed to grow with this community for generations to come.

This Nurses Week, we celebrate the heart of Grady through the story of Lillie Mae Bynum, a proud graduate of the Grady School of Nursing who just turned 100.
For generations, Grady nurses have cared for Atlanta through its hardest moments and happiest ones, too. Lillie Mae is part of that legacy. A legacy built on compassion, strength, sacrifice, and showing up when people need you most.
Our alums remind us of the nurses who came before us, the ones who helped shape Grady’s legacy of caring for this city with skill, heart, and humanity.
To Lillie Mae and to every Grady nurse who has carried this legacy forward, thank you for caring for Atlanta like it’s your own. 💙

Do something positive and productive every day. That’s what one patient chose to write the first time he picked up a pen after his spinal cord injury.
With the support of Occupational Therapist Margo Shainberg, who advocated for his rehab and stayed connected through his recovery, this moment became a powerful reminder of what healing can look like.
“Watching him write for the first time perfectly highlights the impact occupational therapy has on people’s lives,” Margo shared.
And we couldn’t agree more. 💙
