For six generations, the Kuhl family has been farming coffee. We are a coffee and wine house, located in the Poncey-Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta, GA.

Today, the tradition continues as mother and daughter collaborate to both grow coffee at the family farm in Nicaragua and roast it locally through JavaVino. We offer a wide variety of coffees and wines from around the world along with locally baked treats and a light food menu.

We just received our first Selva Negra container of 2026! With lots of help from our sons, we got it unloaded together—filled with pride every step of the way. It’s been incredibly refreshing to focus our full attention on the wholesale side of the business this year.

We are at the farm, Selva Negra, in Nicaragua preparing our first coffee container of 2026. We’ll have it in Atlanta by next month. It always amazing the journey coffee goes through it. I love sharing it with others.

Have you heard of Tannat? It’s Uruguay’s top grape and amazing. A versatile fruit forward red, when aged it delivers a big bodied, hearty red. It’s what brought us to Uruguay and it delivered. With a 21 year old business, it was also fun to celebrate this moment with our 21 year old son.

Now and then. We opened up the coffee shop nearly 22 years ago, when we were expecting our firstborn, Conner. Conner has grown up in the shop. We lived upstairs for the first two years. Conner came home from the hospital and was an instant celebrity with customers. Many of you watched him grow up, running around the shop. Now he’s a barista at JavaVino during school breaks and at Jittery Joes in Athens, where he attends university—so many great memories.

What a treat it’s been to see so many of our former staff popping into JavaVino for a final visit to the coffee shop. So many great memories and friendships we have formed. We are proud of current and past staff. It’s so fulfilling to see you all grow and expand. Cheers and thank you to all our staff over the years. Please tag us as you visit the shop one last time. We have thoroughly enjoyed all the trips down memory lane. Thank you.

JAVAVINO SHIFTS TO WHOLESALE-ONLY
Sale of retail location supports coffee importing and roasting growth.

After nearly 22 years in Poncey-Highland, we’ve made the bittersweet decision to close our café to focus fully on our rapidly growing wholesale business. Our final day of service at the café will be Sunday, December 14, 2025.

We’re endlessly grateful for this community. You’ve made our café a true gathering place and helped us grow a business rooted in coffee from my parents’ farm.

While closing the café is bittersweet, we are excited for what’s ahead. Focusing on wholesale allows us to share our family’s coffee with even more people and to honor the legacy that started long before we opened our doors. As we enter our next chapter, we’re excited to grow our wholesale program by connecting with more coffee farmers and bringing their coffees to new retail and foodservice partners. Thank you, sincerely, for being part of our journey. We look forward to serving Atlanta—and far beyond—for many more years to come. ❤️☕️

We got to cup the latest crop of Gesha on our 50th anniversary trip. Freshly roasted and brewed, right at source. What a treat and impressive flavors. Bright, delicate, floral, clean. It’s a crisp cup of coffee.

The first picking of the current crop starts tomorrow (hard to tell from this fully green cherry branch). Exciting to be at Selva Negra’s with my folks during picking season.

Steve and I are at celebrating the farm’s 50th year anniversary. Feeling so proud of my momma and the beautiful, sustainable farm that she’s created. No wonder the coffee tastes amazing.
