How many greens can a rabbit eat in a day? Well, this lot is getting roughly 3x their body volume and still hoovering up their pellets! They absolutely love ragw**d - it's about 40% of their diet at the moment, which means the farm is covered in denuded ragw**d stems 😂
I've moved this spider three times already, each time explaining that I need the route to the compost bin to stay clear... Most of the time they listen, but this one is apparently hard headed.

Ok... maybe I waited too long to tackle mowing this part of the farm 😂 granted, I'm not sure when I could have done it given the parade of broken equipment and injuries I've had since the end of strawberry season, but at this point I think a chainsaw might be my best shot at knocking things back down under 12 inches. Of course, that makes me wonder if I could cut and dry the giant ragw**d for the rabbits to eat over the winter... But girly, how about we start with getting it *down* and worry about preserving it after?

It's been an intense 10 days over at Lone Goose Farm over in Oxford. The new orchard space has been expanded; our creek crossing re-established; 25,000 lbs of minerals delivered, mixed and spread; soil primer from Advancing Eco Agriculture applied; seed drill borrowed and 500lbs of seed treated with Seed Flare and BioCoat Gold tucked into the dirt. Huge thanks to Chris Theal Chris Theal for joining in on some VERY long, hot days! We also rebted a second tractor from Deft Farm and the seed drill, a haybuster 10-7, from Pine Country RC&D. This was my first time with mineral balancing and using a seed drill, and I'm thrilled with how everything came together. It'll be super exciting to see the impact of balanced minerals, soil microbes and a diverse cover crop in this space!
That said, I'm going to be sleeping for the next 2-3 days 😂

Sunflowers are coming in! I love looking down to the field and seeing their happy faces 😊
care to come back and finish this job? Ideally hang the line so it can’t be reached from the back of a pickup truck, but I’d accept off the ground for the moment. 🙄 And maybe remove the evidence of every time this has happened before hanging off the line like a charm bracelet? This is across from 500 Springside Dr SE, Atlanta 30354.
The tractor is on strike until I can find the safety switch or solenoid keeping it from turning on. It was too gorgeous a day for the w**d whacker, so I pulled out the scythe. Definitely have some work to do on my form, but the customer areas are cut back and I am quite unexpectedly sore!
The community milpa comes into existence, one 64 ft section of rabbit browse at a time! The mix I'm planting here is from , and as it develops I'll be opening it for pay what you can harvesting and volunteer harvest days where the food collected goes over to for distribution through their community fridge. I'm also adding some summer veggies to open holes in the landscape fabric of the strawberry field, just to increase the diversity in the soil over there and to make some additional food available for the community.
