It's the best season of all — Bowl Season! It's so exciting to see the new brand look big and bold on the front of the building.

Blueland is back! Even if it’s only for one night. The Atlanta Gladiators will be wearing Thrashers jerseys Friday night for their match against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. I had the privilege of being art director for the Thrashers account for many years and helped create Blueland. We shot the team on green screen and placed them in real footage of Greenland, created a country flag and even a manifesto. I worked with a fantastic creative team at Blue Sky Agency including Tim Smith, Chris Breen, Mike Schatz, Scott Hall and Angel David Carnes.

This rebrand for Primrose School’s Summer Adventure Club was not only an adventure to create, but turned out to be their most successful summer camp campaign to date. A new logo in the form of a badge was created, along with badges for each of the weekly programs, 25 total, including robotics, coding, design and sports. I worked with animator Dean Funk to create some playful social as well as the team over at Primrose, including copywriter Jared Fernandez and creative director Mike Schatz.

Thinking about the Super Bowl also makes me think of stocking the fridge. Anyone who knows me knows I am a firm believer in the observance of beer-thirty. Getting to design this Beertender Guide for Anheuser Busch was a dream come true. The user experience needed easier navigation, more informative content and a friendlier, more approachable branded look. Loaded with infographics, videos and rich pictures of wooden bars and frosty glasses — ahhhh — and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, we also created a printed brochure to go with it. What? Somebody pinch me. https://www.abdraught.com

This enormous pre-pandemic booth created for AT&T was so amazing to work on. There was an interactive light experience in a round rotunda in the center of the booth, surrounded by electric cars, VR experiences, interactive screen activities, and a virtual neighborhood all skinned by yours truly in blue, black and silver with gobo lights for windows. Experiential design creates the most elaborate canvas. I worked with the amazing architectural designer Ale Lobos Croquevielle and the team at CSE.

There is a lot of controversy over the recent Popeyes campaign featuring Megan Thee Stallion. Some call it tasteless. One thing I can say — I love the design. These are my colors. Love the font, the playful graphics. I will be trying this hottie sauce.

One of my former employers had this on the wall at the Agency, but it was a list, not a Ven diagram. This one is so much better.

The difference is good. Plus, adding magenta next to orange is never wrong. Throw in a flame design motif overlay and you've got a very refreshed brand. The revised style guide paved the way for bold, readable outdoor and striking kinetic type animated social.

But the most glorious of all? Check out the cute blond at :18 with the headband and pink rubber bands on her braces. Does she look familiar? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQaadqf3oK4

My family has been in the pet business as long as I can remember. It was fun to explain to friends in school why our cars always smelled like raw hide. In case you don't know, that's not a good smell. This past year I had the opportunity to help brand a UPS product made for small business, something I know a little bit about. I helped evolve the logo and create a brand style guide plus infographics, one-sheets, social posts and multiple social videos.

One-sheets are always too much content. Who’s going to read all that? We turned one into a multi-page e-book that was a visual read with playful graphics.

The videos were the most fun of all, since I got to wear multiple hats as art director, designer and illustrator. I was working with Chemistry Agency and the brilliant copywriter Paul Schrecongost. You might recognize the subject matter.

This video ruined my makeup a little. It also put some fire in my engine and made me realize I have a "get to" job. If you need an end-of-week pick-me-up, this is better than a grande latte. Thank you Kimberly Beaudin of the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame for sharing this with me.

We need to take care of the people who take care of us. After moving into a new salon space in Buckhead and changing his company name, my hair stylist Donnie Shaw needed a new identity. After years of working in high-end salons, he has built up a long list of loyal clients and he wanted to offer them the same superior services without the additional costs and overhead of a traditional salon.

His website had the salon name in plain, bold, sans-serif type. In some way, this was fitting for the laid-back, unpretentious, master of cut and color. I thought, why not keep it, but make it better? So the font stayed and I added stylized initials in the colors of "brushed silver" and "blond."

Up next: This weekend we will be taking pictures for the website.
