Happy World Senior Citizen’s Day - Let the senior citizen in your life know they are appreciated and loved!

Here is the Kingsboro Croquet Lawn, which provides just one example of our team going above and beyond for the people we design for – in this case the residents of Lenbrook. During planning of the Kingsboro Expansion, Lenbrook residents requested a croquet lawn, but not just any croquet lawn, one that meets regulation standards of championship level competition. The residents were more than pleased to see this full-size competition-level croquet court come to fruition. This space provides lively competition for active residents, who can benefit from socialization and wellness in this new lifestyle amenity.

Given Kingsboro at Lenbrook is in the heart of Buckhead, the plaza courtyard became a key design component for providing a resident greenspace and respite from the surrounding urban hardscape. Thoughtful composition of plants and trees provide natural screening and textures, softening the lines between the hardscape and landscape.

- Evoke Emotion -
One of our goals is to arouse the sensory experience of the resident through the harmony of hardscape and landscape… Have you ever been on a walk, and a sight, smell, or sound triggered a memory of yours?

NATIONAL ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE MONTH: Though water features in health care can be polarizing due to safety risks, water elements can be wonderful distractions with proven stress reduction benefits to Memory Care residents, when it is designed and installed correctly. NATIONAL ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE MONTH: At The Gables, a memory support residence at Westminster Canterbury Richmond, the comprehensive memory garden design offers many therapeutic benefits to its residents. Gathering Spaces, within the secured outdoor space, allow for residents to interact in intimate or large groups with comfortable seating in sun or shade. This provides opportunity for socialization or meditation while enjoying fresh air and some vitamin D.

NATIONAL ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE MONTH: Our Landscape Architects design meaningful outdoor spaces for the residents to enjoy. These spaces, such as Resident Gardens, yield therapeutic and healing benefits for the residents. According to one of our Landscape Architects, Brian Deriso: “The cycle of planting, nurturing, harvesting, cooking and eating what they grow encourages group participation, stimulates memory, inspires personal expression, while reinforcing a cyclical understanding of something familiar to the older adult, such as seasons and time of day.”
