We are pleased to welcome Hannah Peters as the newest member of Innovators Legal. Hannah is a patent agent with five years of experience and holds a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the University of Maryland. Her specialties include organic synthesis, small-molecule therapeutics, therapeutic formation, and antiviral therapies. Welcome to the team, Hannah!

Next month the USPTO is kicking off the Deferred Subject Matter Eligibility Response (DSMER) pilot program. Primary examiners must opt in to participate, but USPTO has indicated they will encourage examiner participation. The program is designed to allow applicants to defer responding to subject matter eligibility rejections under 35 USC § 101. If the examiner opts in to participate, you will be invited to participate via a form paragraph in the first office action on the merits. Have questions? Let us know.
