With the expansion of the Cardinal at North Hills, the glorious 18-story East Tower brings the Senior Living residential experience to new heights. Upon entry to the East Tower, one is welcomed by the impressive two-story lobby that opens up to custom back-lit laser-cut wood panels and a two-story living green wall. The green wall and dappled light effect of the panels allude to the concept of “bringing the outdoors in,” and support the message of wellness and biophilic design carried throughout the commons spaces.

The Mahogany Room, at Corso Atlanta, is a warm, comfortable atmosphere of sophistication and is the perfect venue for wine and cheese tastings. A sculptural green wall, a custom wine table, hand-hewn European wood flooring, mahogany woodwork and a spectacular barrel-vaulted ceiling provide the rich elegance of a wine cellar while engaging with the active courtyard beyond. The theater, at Corso Atlanta, features a massive, 10’ wide, full-height, door that can open and bring the performance “out” to an outdoor audience, or the inverse to an indoor audience. The ceiling has octagonal coffering throughout with chandeliers and perimeter up-lighting. The plush theater lounge chairs have wheels and can swivel, moving the audience wherever they can be most “moved.” This space’s flexibility additionally allows it to act as a high-end multipurpose room, able to host meetings, galas or game nights.

Design is truly in the details and this unique community is a timeless example of modern elegance. Inspired by the splendor of Western European architecture, you can experience this detailed laying of design through the custom light fixtures, embossed leather, European fabrics, hand-sewn wood flooring and custom art.

The cardroom and a posh lounge, adjacent to the lobby, serve as an introduction to the depth of palette and design that you may experience throughout the community. These social spaces also have access to the main courtyard beyond.

Arriving at the main entry to the clubhouse of Corso Atlanta, you are greeted by the lobby’s grand, vaulted-ceilings. The reception desk, which is inspired by a vintage travel trunk.

The renovation and expansion of the Health Center at Marquette provided a more prominent welcome area, a more updated and comfortable appearance for the end-user and improved functionality for the staff.

Congratulations to Melinda Avila-Torio for being selected to serve as a 2023 Board of Director Member of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID). This is a national organization that strives to research and improve materials, processes and overall design for the industry. Melinda also will continue to volunteer as a member of the Testing Development Committee. Congratulations Melinda for pursuing your passion and achieving this great honor; we are so proud of you!
