We had the honor of designing a second location for Atlanta Fine Homes | Sotheby’s International Realty last year and are excited to share the finished product. The office is 11,000 square feet located at Avalon in Alpharetta, GA and is a true blend of contemporary design and warm, residential sophistication.

Next up, welcome to the team, Chama Ataya!

Poised, creative, and people-centered, Chama sees design as storytelling, crafting spaces that feel intentional, human, and connected. Originally from Kenya, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Interior Design.

Her work has been recognized by ASID Georgia for its focus on accessibility and community-driven design, and she brings that same curiosity, care, and collaborative spirit to every project at SMART. When she’s not designing, you can find her exploring new food spots, sketching her surroundings, or dancing to Afrobeats.

We’ve been busy this last month stacking our already awesome team with even more talent! First up, please join us in welcoming Sabrina Gonzalez.

Warm, thoughtful, and happiest when surrounded by loved ones. Originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Sabrina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2020 before moving to the U.S. to pursue her MFA in Interior Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Her passion for design began early, inspired by how the spaces around her could change the way people feel, connect, and grow. She believes design should bring comfort and positivity to everyday life, creating environments that are both functional and uplifting. Outside of work, Sabrina loves spending time with family and friends, dancing ballet, and exploring new places. She’s also a big animal lover and is constantly trying to convince herself not to adopt a pet.

Please join us in welcoming Robert Hinkle! Robert will be joining the team as a Senior Technical Architect.

Meticulous, professional, and charismatic! Originally from a small town in rural Alabama, Robert knew from the 6th grade he wanted to become an architect. After high school he enrolled in Auburn University (the oldest School of Architecture in the South) to earn his Professional Degree in Architecture. He attended Auburn on an ROTC scholarship, so he was commissioned into the Air Force on graduation day and then served eight years on active duty as an architect and facilities manager. His favorite three years were in Germany where in his “spare time” he earned a Masters in International Relations from Troy University’s European campus, never professionally using that degree (but, as he likes to say, able to read and understand articles in Time Magazine that most people skip). Robert spent eight years on active duty before leaving and joining the Air Force Reserve. During those Reserve years, he was the Base Architect at Shaw Air Force Base and then moved back to Atlanta to become the Architectural Project Manager for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, completing their new headquarters in 2001. In 2005, Robert retired from the Air Force Reserve with over 22 years of total service. He then made the transition to Commercial Interiors, where he first worked with many of our current SMARTies. Robert has an attention to detail like no one else as well as a spirited willingness to do code research, often relishing the challenge.
When he’s not working Robert likes to unwind with long walks on the beach in search of sea glass and the perfect seashell. He also pursues his love for gardening and the challenge of always having something blooming in his yard year-round.
