“What shall I render unto the LORD For all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.” Psalm‬ ‭116‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”” Luke‬ ‭6‬:‭38‬ ‭NLT‬‬
The Boy with the loaves and fishes is at the center of the miracle of the feeding of the 5,000+. (John 6)
Some commentators suggest that the little boy in this story intended to sell his food to the crowd—otherwise, why would he pack so much? And yet, despite Andrew’s emphasis about how “small” his offering was, he willingly gave all he had without shame or hesitation. And through his generosity, thousands of people were fed!
“When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him, There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.” John‬ ‭6‬:‭5‬-‭13‬ ‭KJV‬‬
* The boy wanted to give. He abandoned his entrepreneurial plans.
* The boy gave all he had out of what he had (his means).
* The boy’s giving was relevant to what was needed.
* The boy left what he gave to Jesus and the disciples.
* God used what the boy gave to feed the 5,000+
* God used this biblical account to emphasize that we can’t beat God giving.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As Summer breaks begin… I recognize the subject of children and child rearing is challenged even within the body of Christ, but God’s word is clear. Children are not to work as adults work. Children are not to try to be adults toward other children in their immediate family and beyond. Children are not to make decisions, including decisions about their own life. They don’t know what’s best. Think about who determined the very clothes of Joseph and the Prophet Samuel as children. Children definitely should not make gender assignment decisions. Children are to be trained/shaped. -PC
“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬
For the first part of their life a child has a two fold responsibility. (Obey and Honor)
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6:1 ESV
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12 ESV
Release ownership of your children to God —understanding God is responsible for the way in which they were designed and already knows the plan and purpose for their future.
For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.” And he worshiped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1:27-28 ESV
When We Treasure Children, We show how much we Value God… and his love for children lifting them as a picture of the Kingdom.
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Luke 18:16 ESV
Children insure the continuation of families and communities… from the very beginning in the context of the holy Institution of marriage... God gave instruction to mankind: And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth… Genesis 1:28 ESV
Children insure the continuation of churches… “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬ ‭KJV
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭18‬ ‭KJV‬‬
As adult men and women we are to be present and accountable in our children’s lives, live Godly lives before them. Don’t teach them to lie to cover up your wrongs. Please don’t misuse their social security number. Even if you are just starting in Christ, commit to being the first level of Biblical discipleship in their lives. Realize God has left it up to you to show them His way. Frederick Douglass was a Black American who escaped from slavery and became a leader of the abolitionist movement, Said “it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.”

Knowing the Difference! There are some things, people, and the voices that closely mimic the things of God, people of God and the voice of God. Don’t be fooled. There is ... “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-7). As a Christ Follower, I have to diligently seek God, the truth as defined by God’s Word, and rely on the Holy Ghost as close to 100% as possible to direct me. To get us down the road knowing how to tell fake ... there is the general voice of Satan that wants to direct as many people to hell with him as he can; there are things and activities that are the opposite of Godliness, and there are human voices that seek to have you do things that oppose righteousness. Know God... know love, joy, and peace. No God (One true God) ... no love, joy, or peace. -PC
“And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect. But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.” Mark‬ ‭13:21-23‬ ‭
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭2:15-16‬ ‭
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3-5‬
