Bauer Memory Development Lab

Want to help us discover how children learn science? Here at the Memory at Emory lab at Emory University, we are currently recruiting 5- and 6-year-old children for an online study over Zoom. In the study, we have a parent and child read one book together and then we ask the child some questions about the book and then do some language tasks. The study lasts 45-60 minutes and we provide a $10 Target e-gift card as a thank you for participating. This is a fun and engaging way to help your children begin to learn about research!

Recently our postdoctoral fellow Hilary Miller-Goldwater presented her research at the Cognitive Development Society Meeting. She presented her work identifying how young children's science books can help them learn science information even before they enter Kindergarten! She found that books that included more details, examples, and comparisons, as well as included questions, helped the preschool-aged children learn more science information.
