"The standard 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.47% this week [...] That’s down substantially from last week’s average of 6.73% and marks the lowest level since May 2023. This week’s drop was the biggest since late December."

It will be interesting to see if this results in an upturn in mortgage applications and more home buyers on the market. Some buyers might feel that rates will go lower, though, given recessional fears fueled by mediocre employment figures and potential further rate cuts being talked about.

Of course, we'll never see 2-3% interest rates again, but maybe homebuyers will get to see high 5% rates in the near future.
