Anna

Future ICU nurse, ugly dog lover, and a gift in many people’s lives

Anna is in a graduate nursing program and plans to graduate this December! Xander has become her studying hub and we’re so grateful she found us! She hopes to be an adult ICU nurse in the future with the aim of providing the best quality of life to those that have hit their lowest point. She has seen people from all walks of life in the ICU and this made her realize how valuable life is and to not take it for granted.

She likes to spend her time as a high school small group leader and supports a group of girls through their teenage years. In her past, she didn’t have that support. A time when she really needed it. She wishes these girls wouldn’t have to go through hard times alone and that’s why she began this journey. People need extra love and to be treated fairly unlike how she used to be treated. She is the hope in these girl’s lives.

Anna values achievement, balance, and her faith. She wants to be truly fulfilled with what she does in life. Whether that is with work, her social life, or her walk with God. Her love for God has been showing up for her in all stages of life and she’s so grateful she has found a community within a church that has taught her the importance of faith. Anna is getting baptized next month and we’re so happy she’s happy!

Also fun fact: she wants to adopt an ugly dog because they don’t get enough love and that is the cutest thing ever.

Jose

Barista, family oriented, and funko pop enthusiast

Jose has been working at Xander since its opening date. He has been dedicated to this coffee shop since day one and he’s loved working here. The commute may be a bit far for him but the love of making coffee and the interactions he has made with our guests has made it worthwhile. In the beginning of his journey with Xander he refused to drink coffee but as time went on he learned to love it. His favorite drink is a caramel mocha iced latte and he can’t go a day without one.

He’s family oriented through and through. His parents were fantastic role models in how parenting and marriage should look like. He had a great childhood because of his loving parents and he wouldn’t trade it for the world. This upbringing has taught him the importance of family and togetherness. Family is a priority in his life and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

He wishes people understood his introverted/extroverted nature. He may be reserved at first but once you get to know him his charming personality will soon emerge. He’s quick witted and loves to crack jokes. If you spend even the smallest amount of time with him he’ll have you belly laughing and have you realizing that you've needed someone like him in your life.

One of Jose’s passions is Funko Pops. He’s been collecting them for a while now and has amassed over 680 pops! If you know a collector of any item you know how passionate they are and Jose is no different. Jose’s main goal in life is to be happy and this passion fulfills that a little more everyday.

Lu

A photographer, director, creative soul, and father

Lu started his photography business about four years ago on his own. He realized this gift was second nature and that he just had a knack for taking photos. He started with photoshoots and would get positive feedback from local photographers. High fashion, editorial. He does it all. He is fueled by pursuing his passion and it’s made him more creative than he already was.

He hopes to build a small, intimate team one day that will push the vision of his company. Working together to reach an audience that understands their creativity and perspective in life. Not only is he a photographer but he’s also a director and overall a creative mogul. A jack of all trades if you ask me.

Being a father has shaped him most as a person. He’s more disciplined as a business man in order to show his daughter that you can be anything you want to be in this world. A world that has only been enhanced with her in it. He strives to be that role model for her and nothing will stand in his way in doing that.

Sometimes simple is best.

Chay

A mother, barista and entrepreneur.

Her son, Clemmie, changed her life. She’s realized she has grown so much in patience, responsibility, and in love. The love she has for her child is unimaginable and different than any other love she has experienced. This love has pushed her to pursue her passions.

Her move to Atlanta has fueled her passion to explore and take risks. She moved from Tacoma during the start of the pandemic with a few suitcases in a car and no family to come to and she has been thriving ever since. This move has been one of the best things she has experienced. The food, the culture, the people. She’s found a home in this city and is so excited to find out more about it.

Chay loves to work for herself. She is creative and business minded. She makes candles, applies tooth gems, wants to open a hair, skin and nails spa, and wants to open her own coffee shop. Wherever she is in life, she’ll be passionate in what she does and will be working on new endeavors.

She loves building relationships with all of our Xander guests so come by and have a conversation with Chay. She’ll be sure to remember you next time.
