“The function of freedom is to free someone else.” — Toni Cade Bambara.
I’ve reflected deeply on this during Women’s History and Social Work Month. But the truth is—I can’t do liberating work if I’m depleted. Freedom begins with me honoring my own capacity. So I stepped back to pour into myself—and now I step forward to challenge you: What’s one thing you can do that makes you feel free? And how do you support someone else’s freedom today?

Social Work Month always reminds me of the depth of what we carry; but this time, I let it remind me of what I deserve to carry too:
Rest.
Clarity.
AND Care that doesn’t have to be earned.
How did you honor & care for yourself this month? Put it in the comments! 🤗💕

Learning about an artist that is new to you is like unlocking a part of yourself you didn’t know was there. Special shout out to & her crew for doing artsy things with me at The Museum of Contemporary Arts in Chicago. We both fell in love with the sculpturist who is a rabbit hole of wonder once you get into him. Nick Cave says “Art should always be an exchange” … a therapeutic experience 😉

Spending the last 6 years supporting (mostly) Black Women from different backgrounds, cultures, age groups, family dynamics, etc has been both a learning experience & an honor. Coming into our womanhood is an experience that is very unique to the individual in a lot of ways but also brings us together in ways only we, women, can feel & innerstand. My challenge to you today & throughout this month is to take time connecting with a woman from a different generation than your own, listen, take note of her experiences, and embrace her perspective. See how it changes you.
‘Cause it’s gloomy in & Vitamin D helps fight … & also ‘cause y’all know I like my grid to be this will complete the white horse photo shoot (maybe 🙃)
If you’re seeking balance in your real life though, I am accepting a few more clients for virtual & services. Hit me up!
