One classroom hill I will die on: I would choose math binders over interactive notebooks EVERY TIME.

Before you start making your classroom cute, make sure you’ve actually decided how your classroom is going to run.
What happens when a student is absent?
Where do they turn in work?
What do they do when they need a pencil?
How do they enter class?
What happens when they finish early?
Those little decisions are what save you from answering the same questions 47 times during the first week.

Most students do not have all their supplies or locker routines figured out during the first week.
That is why I love one resource that stays on the desk and does four jobs: name display, daily warm-up, math review, and teacher trivia.
