Too Busy To Hate

Atlanta was once coined "the city too busy to hate". We want this to be true.

October 26, 1911, Mahalia Jackson, the 'Queen of the Civil Rights' and gospel legend, entered the world in New Orleans, Louisiana.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mahalia was an undisputed powerhouse, navigating the Civil Rights era with confidence, courage, and a voice that captured diverse audiences wherever she was heard. Her steadfast friendship with MLK Jr. is recorded in her willingness to reenter the deep south with a song of hope and freedom.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"That's where the power comes from," says the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who first met the singer in the 1960s. "When there is no gap between what you say and who you are, what you say and what you believe — when you can express that in song, it is all the more powerful."
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today we are filled with gratitude for her legacy and her music that continues to uplift and usher us into a greater story.

Did you know that thirty-eight percent of single mamas in Atlanta live below the poverty line? The Foundation is dedicated to serving, and loving, these moms with dignity and care. While their efforts are expressed in meeting tangible needs of single moms in Atlanta, they also provide a unique undercurrent of relief and support for the women they serve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“We believe these essentials should be accessible to all mamas and we are committed to making the fight easier.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This begins to translate directly for families as they experience family stabilization and have the opportunity to focus on flourishing. We are inspired by their care and pursuit and hope you will follow along on their journey to change the experience of single moms in our city from one of striving to thriving.
