What began as one of the most terrifying nights of Elisabeth Anderson's life has become a resource for families navigating loss and recovery.

During Hurricane Helene, Anderson, her husband, and their 7-week-old newborn spent two hours stranded on the roof of their car in rising floodwaters before being rescued in the middle of the night.

, Anderson channeled that experience into something meaningful. She co-authored Goodbye, Little House with J.D. Rainwater, a children's book designed to help young readers process trauma, loss, and sudden life transitions.

As communities across the Southeast continue to recover from natural disasters and other life-altering events, stories like this highlight the power of resilience and empathy.

It was wonderful to have Elisabeth join us in the 11Alive streaming studio to share more about her story and how she's helping others.

She shares an important message about ways to prepare for life's unexpected tests.

Imagine spending two hours in the middle of the night stranded on the roof of your car with your 7-week-old baby as floodwaters rise around you.

That's exactly what happened to Elisabeth Anderson, her husband, and their newborn during Hurricane Helene before a water rescue team finally reached them.

Now, Anderson is turning one of the most terrifying moments of her life into a source of healing for others. She co-authored Goodbye, Little House, a children's book inspired by her family's experience and designed to help children process loss, trauma, and unexpected life changes.

The book offers a gentle way for families to have difficult conversations and find hope after disaster strikes.

Elisabeth joined me in the 11Alive streaming studio to share her remarkable story of survival, resilience, and how their experience is helping.

(I'll share the full interview soon!)

New hope in the fight against cancer.

For years, pancreatic cancer patients have had few treatment options. Now, doctors say a new experimental pill could change that.

The drug is called daraxonrasib. Researchers say it targets a mutated protein linked to tumor growth in nearly all pancreatic cancer patients. It's a target that was once considered impossible to treat.

In a new study, patients with advanced pancreatic cancer who had run out of other treatment options took the pill daily.

The results were encouraging: patients lived a median of 13.2 months, compared to 6.7 months for those receiving chemotherapy.

Doctors call it a major breakthrough because it's the first drug to show a substantial advantage over traditional treatments.

The FDA is now speeding up its review so it can reach patients faster. Researchers hope the treatment could be available within the next few months.

A shocking crash with a child, a miraculous outcome, and important reminder for all of us.

Gwinnett County police are sharing this to encourage everyone to wear a seatbelt and buckle in children.

The video shows two pickups colliding before crashing into a police patrol car.

During the crash, a child was thrown from a back seat and ejected from the vehicle.

Thankfully, the child survived with only minor injuries.

Police say the outcome could have been much worse.

They're using the video as a reminder for drivers to take a few extra seconds before every trip to make sure everyone is properly secured.
